wes0778 Posted March 2, 2012 #1 Posted March 2, 2012 Well, the Canadian Cruiser Custom HID light that I installed last April has developed a mind of it's own. Sometimes it won't light up and when it does light, when it decides it goes out. It did that several nights ago, so thank goodness for the passing lights!!! The middle little "bump" in the bulb is cloudy, and I don't remember if it was that way when I installed it. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this kit, to determine if the bulb has failed or if the ballast has gone out? Oh well, for now the bike has a brand new Silverstar Ultra installed.
Flyinfool Posted March 3, 2012 #2 Posted March 3, 2012 I would call Canadian Cruiser. I might be under warranty.
Guest Slab_Ryder Posted March 3, 2012 #3 Posted March 3, 2012 It's about the switching. The light needs to be turned on, via a separate switch, after ignition is turned on. There is another thread on this.
TheKid Posted March 3, 2012 #4 Posted March 3, 2012 I would also say the balast isn't good. I have an hid no prob with regular hook up. But mine is lifetime warranty they erupts.
wes0778 Posted March 3, 2012 Author #5 Posted March 3, 2012 The good news it IS under warranty! The bad news is I'm not finding where I filed the receipt!
BradT Posted March 3, 2012 #6 Posted March 3, 2012 CDN Cruiser should have a copy of the invoice if its only that old. Doubt it is the ballast as I believe it would just stop working. Brad
RedRider Posted March 3, 2012 #7 Posted March 3, 2012 +1 on the external switch. Only way this light will stay alive. RR
