alvald83 Posted February 25, 2012 #1 Posted February 25, 2012 During my bike cleaning today i decided to try to clean the clutch sight glass. I used a screw driver to lightly scrape away the thick oxidation. Then the problem, fluid began to leak from the center of the glass. Can i repair this with sometype of glue or adhesive. I'd really hate to go through the sight glass replacement process.
Marcarl Posted February 25, 2012 #2 Posted February 25, 2012 There is a glue some guys have used to fix this, I can't remember the name of it right now, but you will have to remove the sight glass to do it properly. If you have Seal All in your stores, that will do the job, and quickly.
muaymendez1 Posted February 25, 2012 #3 Posted February 25, 2012 I have used j b weld and it help strong for 2years but u cant see through it
alvald83 Posted February 26, 2012 Author #4 Posted February 26, 2012 Would you just cover the glass completely? I have a small hole in the center of the glass.
muaymendez1 Posted February 26, 2012 #5 Posted February 26, 2012 I did that on an old master cyl that was really coroded.I removed the clear glass (plastic) ,a us dime fit snug and I put jb weld inside and around. No signs of the brake fluid attacking the jb weld after 2 years
Yammer Dan Posted February 26, 2012 #6 Posted February 26, 2012 There is replacement lens for those things around somewhere.
friesman Posted February 26, 2012 #7 Posted February 26, 2012 This company is offering lens rebuild kits, and seems to offer many different options for different models. I would check him out and let us know how it goes. http://newrivercyclesalvage.com/sight-glass.html Brian

SaltyDog Posted February 26, 2012 #9 Posted February 26, 2012 gotta get a faster connection and type faster.
van avery Posted February 26, 2012 #10 Posted February 26, 2012 I have not tried this stuff on that but "Rapid-Fix" is some of the best stuff I ever used for bonding things together. The bond is almost instant and hard. I have used it to make a new wooden post on the side faring connection and stuck it to the plactic and have a very hard bond. It's about $22 at the auto parts store. It's a two part system with liquid "Like super glue on Steriods" and then a powder in another bottle when you but together it's hard and tough. I would sure give it a try.
alvald83 Posted February 29, 2012 Author #11 Posted February 29, 2012 Does anyone have a spare Clutch MC you'd be interested in selling?
alvald83 Posted March 3, 2012 Author #12 Posted March 3, 2012 If i remove the fluid to do this repair or replace the MC, is there a certain bleed process?
