Cougar Posted February 25, 2012 #1 Posted February 25, 2012 Thanks to Bill aka Wanna he figured out and helped me set up the relay so that the side markers will also blink/flash , they also work with the emergancy as well. the wires hanging were for my test before I button it up right. enjoy. Jeff
ragtop69gs Posted February 26, 2012 #2 Posted February 26, 2012 That's NICE. You gonna do a how to with this mod ?
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #3 Posted February 26, 2012 :scratchchin:Ummm, Well I guess I could... now there is a how to on the LED light install , but it is not in the tech section.. not sure if Don wants to add it or not.. here is that link.. the 2nd part would be the RELAYS for them (2) for each light. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67183 Jeff
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #4 Posted February 26, 2012 here is another one after I had it more perfected in the dark. Sorry for the movment on the video, had my laft and on the cam and the right hand on the key and turn signal switch . Man I hate relays :rotf:I have four under the fairing now. what a wire jungle in there now.
Carbon_One Posted February 26, 2012 #5 Posted February 26, 2012 That's a nice set up Cougar. So you isolated the turn signal circuit with a relay which is activated by the four way flasher switch? Looks great anyhow so I just may borrow your idea. Larry
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #6 Posted February 26, 2012 Yeah Larry, it also works with the left/right blinkers as well.. BUT hold off a little as I am trying to make them blink opposite. LOL front and sides. still playing with it a bit more. after I am done I will try and write down all the connections for you. Keep in mind that this install will take (2) Relays. Heck you ARE the RELAY MASTER tho. Jeff
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #7 Posted February 26, 2012 got the opposing blink now. now just to get the top lit, will get it figured out tho I hope.
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #8 Posted February 26, 2012 I have decided to just stay with them blinking at the same time. way to much trouble and I think I like it better this way anyway .. makes me kinda dizzy watching them :puzzled:Opposed All DONE! Jeff
Snaggletooth Posted February 26, 2012 #9 Posted February 26, 2012 Nice Jeff. Looking forward to any info on the wiring you've done for this. I changed out the relectors on the radiator guards and side bags for LED's on my '84 and the blinking set up would be a nice touch. Mike
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #10 Posted February 26, 2012 Sure Mike, Will try and post my MESS soon LOL:D and thanks.
Snaggletooth Posted February 26, 2012 #11 Posted February 26, 2012 Sure Mike, Will try and post my MESS soon LOL:D and thanks. Don't forget to list the color codes!!
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #12 Posted February 26, 2012 ALL WHITE mabey a tad of blue and a black in there.
Snaggletooth Posted February 26, 2012 #13 Posted February 26, 2012 Ain't that a hoot! Same coding I used when I rewired the firewall on my first car after the carb fire. I bought the biggest spool of white wire at the parts store had and had at it. God help the person that bought that car.
dacheedah Posted February 26, 2012 #15 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) To make them blink opposite, we called it wig wag on our squad cars. Here is a link, a lot of companies make these but its just one device. http://www.swps.com/whelheadflas.html This would work cheaper and easier circuit, it's a EL13A flasher, you have power and 2 alternating loads, 1 flasher http://www.ledlight.com/electronic-led-flasher-el113a1.aspx Edited February 26, 2012 by dacheedah
Cougar Posted February 26, 2012 Author #16 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) Mike here is the link.. I hope it helps, just added to the LED install. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=660437#post660437 Jeff Edited February 26, 2012 by Cougar

I am also thinking that I am liking it better blinking at the same time :shock3:LOL http://www.swps.com/whelheadflas.html Thanks, Jeff
dacheedah Posted February 26, 2012 #19 Posted February 26, 2012 Any wig-wag will throw the current left, right, left ... once you give it power it just moves the power back and forth
dacheedah Posted February 27, 2012 #21 Posted February 27, 2012 You would need 2 el13a's if you went that route. Make a Plug the power (x) lug from the switch, you could unplug the flasher and take it here, for each direction you would need a el13a ( L&R ), Each has one (X) and two (L) load lugs , plug the regular turn signal into one load lug and your side led's into the other load lug. It would also be cool from behind if you had another turn signal or arrow on the bags at the same height and they alternated flash, kind of like the lights on a car or truck mirror.
