SilvrT Posted February 24, 2012 #76 Posted February 24, 2012 Pejorative : Descriptive verb, or noun: Meaning the state of mind of a 2nd Generation owner dealing with the guilt of inferior ownership while in the shadow of 1st Generation owners. Used to describe the extreme jealousy developed in the subconscious cranium area that eventually works itself out and shows up in degenerative remarks and attitudes. Excerpt from 1st Generation Dictionary of Offensive Terms, 2/23/2012. You're welcome... I would suggest the above is a good example of what Pejorative really means ...
Stoutman Posted February 24, 2012 #77 Posted February 24, 2012 I worked with a guy who was genuinely brilliant. His handicap was that his brilliant mind worked in mysterious ways, mysterious to the rest of us at least. The thing is, this guy didn’t suffer fools gladly. Whenever he was unable to win an argument based on his wit, wisdom, and elocution he would then begin his assault. The beginning was always the same question: “Is ignorance bliss”? This was stated in a way that was unmistakably an insult. The best retort I ever heard was from another brilliant, yet much more mature man who replied: “Well, given the breadth and depth of human knowledge I think some ignorance is unavoidable. For those that are unwilling to concede that point, I believe arrogance provides a measure of comfort.”

KIC Posted February 24, 2012 #79 Posted February 24, 2012 I would suggest the above is a good example of what Pejorative really means ... Unless of course someone is just clowning around.....
Rick Haywood Posted February 24, 2012 #80 Posted February 24, 2012 Unless of course someone is just clowning around..... Clowning around?????on this board:scratchchin: certainly not:whistling:

KIC Posted February 24, 2012 #82 Posted February 24, 2012 Clowning around? might that be yerself yer riferrin tae m8t? LOL Not me ... I am always dead serious.... I was thinking of Yammer Dan..... It's all good and fun until somebody gets a turn signal lens busted....
chabicheka Posted February 24, 2012 #83 Posted February 24, 2012 Nothing has been said yet about airplane tires, are they OK? Might be.....but not cost effective. Now careful there....you're giving the first genners ideas here, cause they seem to think their bikes are capable of flying..
bilko1 Posted February 24, 2012 #84 Posted February 24, 2012 Might be.....but not cost effective. Now careful there....you're giving the first genners ideas here, cause they seem to think their bikes are capable of flying.. HAY:whistling: I so to can fly, I took it off the ground:cool10: not 18 miles from my house. (hadtochangemyuknowwhats:( when I got home) I truly don't want to do that agan!!!
KIC Posted February 24, 2012 #85 Posted February 24, 2012 Might be.....but not cost effective. Now careful there....you're giving the first genners ideas here, cause they seem to think their bikes are capable of flying.. Yepper.....flying right past those slower 2nd Gens and Goldwing wannabees...right past...
Hummingbird Posted February 24, 2012 #86 Posted February 24, 2012 I don't jump in too often but if a 1st gen is all a person can afford, then they SHOULD be proud of it. regardless of whether they think it goes faster -

Hummingbird Posted February 24, 2012 #88 Posted February 24, 2012 I must not beg, to differ, but a 1st gen is not cheaper, but it will go faster. I guess you're probably right, what with all the upkeep and parts searching - a 1st gen probably is more expensive
Sideoftheroad Posted February 24, 2012 #89 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) I think what we have here is a fine example of reverse pejorativation. Oh poor, poor 1st genners. Please forgive them for that which they do not know. Edited February 24, 2012 by Sideoftheroad

bilko1 Posted February 24, 2012 #91 Posted February 24, 2012 Remember it's not their fault. It's a fast bike, but somebody has to ride it.:rotf:
Yammer Dan Posted February 25, 2012 #92 Posted February 25, 2012 I got enough in my 1st Gens to buy a couple 2nd Gens. Don't want one. Slower, don't look as good, don't handle as good. !st Gen comes with gear selector, tach, clock and a few other things I've forgotten. And who was clowning around while I was gone??
buddy Posted February 25, 2012 #93 Posted February 25, 2012 Does anyone remember what the topic of this thread was? I was a bad boy Hey wait it wasn't me this time... but give me time
dingy Posted February 25, 2012 #94 Posted February 25, 2012 !st Gen comes with gear selector, tach, clock and a few other things I've forgotten. Actually, the RSV's come with a gear selector, as do the 1st gens. However, the 1st gens also come with a gear position indicator on the Royales. And a 1st gen is so cool it doesn't need the HD look-alike faux air cool fins. Gary
playboy Posted February 25, 2012 #95 Posted February 25, 2012 And a 1st gen is so cool it doesn't need the HD look-alike faux air cool fins. Gary Seems to me like the 2nd gen's aren't trying to be anything they were not manufactured to be unlike some V-Max wannabes who never will truly be.
Rocket Posted February 25, 2012 #96 Posted February 25, 2012 Might be.....but not cost effective. Now careful there....you're giving the first genners ideas here, cause they seem to think their bikes are capable of flying.. You getting ideas???? First you need to get your 1st gen back together. Probably need to do the carbs, since it has been about 6 years, in your garage. Maybe just pass the 1st gen off to Scot or Ben, as you slowed down to 2nd gen speeds. Also, I had the 86 & trailer airborne, on final approach to Big Tom's, crossing railroad tracks. This was a week or so, after meeting up with you again, Dogman & Evan.
dacheedah Posted February 25, 2012 #97 Posted February 25, 2012 Freebird, if I put the trailer in the front and fill the tires with oil or earl won't I have to convert it to a Di system to make right turns? Just seems I would end up with a CanAm badge on her and I didn't like the ride of that thing???
Yammer Dan Posted February 25, 2012 #98 Posted February 25, 2012 And a 1st gen is so cool it doesn't need the HD look-alike faux air cool fins. Gary Seems to me like the 2nd gen's aren't trying to be anything they were not manufactured to be unlike some V-Max wannabes who never will truly be. V-Max or 1st Gen?? Which came 1st???:rotfl: V-Max has a 1st Gen engine.
Gray Ghost Posted February 26, 2012 #99 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) ... Any oil that is not a single weight, has carbon polymers that expand when they get "W"arm hence 20w50... (20 cold 50 warm) I always thought the W stood for weight, but have been recently taught it actually stands for "Winter". Although the SAE document in the following link doesn't use the term winter it does refer to the one without the W as the summer operation rating. "To correct this problem, a new low-temperature classification was eventually added to the Standard in 1950, and it became possible to grade oils by a low-temperature W-grade designation, such as SAE 5W, 10W, or 20W. Now the consumer could ask specifically for an SAE 5W grade, at that time the lowest of the three low-viscosity SAE W-grades, for cold weather driving, or an SAE 40 grade, for example, for summer operation." From url http://www.sae.org/news/releases/rightoil.htm. "And a 1st gen is so cool it doesn't need the HD look-alike faux air cool fins. Gary" Those so called faux fins have kept my hands warm on many a cold day riding. Edited February 26, 2012 by Gray Ghost rewording
