rstacy Posted February 18, 2012 #1 Posted February 18, 2012 My friend's desire to ride sometimes outweighs his common sense. We always argue over who has the best weather source. My weather man predicted this. His called for no precip. At least he made it home safely. http://www.raymondstacy.com/davebike.jpg
Flyinfool Posted February 18, 2012 #2 Posted February 18, 2012 Well the streets dont look to bad. I have ridden home in several inches of partly cloudy a few times.
GolfVenture Posted February 18, 2012 #4 Posted February 18, 2012 Not worth taking a chance dumping such a beautiful bike.
Zfrebird4 Posted February 18, 2012 #5 Posted February 18, 2012 ... 18 wheeler's tracks and ice from Delta CO to Hotchkiss (19 miles only, forutnately), light ice and troughs clear and riding same. On this last one I was MOST CERTAINLY awake when I got home! Really stupid; should have moteled in Delta. it was all a matter of the Good Lord's Luck! Never enjoyed covering up my 1st 86 VR that night: Jack Z
rstacy Posted February 18, 2012 Author #6 Posted February 18, 2012 Not worth taking a chance dumping such a beautiful bike. I agree. He said that his windshield and face shield kept getting blocked by snow. Jeff, you probably know him. He is a big rum ball fan.
Flyinfool Posted February 18, 2012 #7 Posted February 18, 2012 I was planning on corrupting/introducing this bunch to my world famous IRCHA class rum balls at some MDs this summer. They just seem to work so well on a Friday night. Maybe need to bring a night ship to complete the experience............
dacheedah Posted February 18, 2012 #8 Posted February 18, 2012 I use my garage roof as a guide because its partially shaded, if I see frost its a no go no matter how nice out. I also expect the worst.
Brake Pad Posted February 18, 2012 #9 Posted February 18, 2012 When I lived up north, I owned two bikes, a Honda CB 750 K, and a Yamaha 250, that made into a snow bike, nobbies and all
Drkngas Posted February 18, 2012 #11 Posted February 18, 2012 Not worth taking a chance dumping such a beautiful bike. Totally agree!
alwrmcusn Posted February 18, 2012 #12 Posted February 18, 2012 Sometime circa 1966/67 while stationed in Londonderry, N. Ireland I rode a 650 Matchless G12 CSR from the Navy base down to the town, out the Prehan road to New buildings, left at New Buildings and on to Tagherena where my girlfriend (now wife) lived. From the townsite at Craigavon Bridge out to New Buildings and on to Taherena. I made the first set of tracks! For the the area it was a major snowfall. It was about 4-6 inches. I almost froze my keester off, my fingers have yet to warm up, my ears still tingle if I flick them, but...it was worth it that evening!!
rstacy Posted February 18, 2012 Author #13 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Maybe need to bring a night ship to complete the experience............ Speaking of night ships, I will derail my own thread here. My son and I were at the Efest in Champaign last week. Here is his winning flight with lights. The landing rocked! Flyinfool Posted February 18, 2012 #14 Posted February 18, 2012 Oh to be young with reflexes and hand - eye coordination again........... Great flight, I'll never be good enough to half of that stuff. I'll just continue to dull everyone's senses with rum so that my flying looks good.
dacheedah Posted February 19, 2012 #15 Posted February 19, 2012 drkngas dats old grass, it turns grey or goes bald just like hair up here
