I did the Barnett pressure plate upgrade a few years ago and I got 75,000 worry free miles on it so far... It pulls a little harder than before but I don't notice it til I ride a stock RS... I've been using Barnetts since the 70s and have never had a failure...

Just some additional

:2cents: here, when you go to change out the spring and or the rear friction disc with a full sized one. Make sure that you scuff up the steels before reinstall them. This will remove any glazing that might have occurred if your clutch was slipping. I have done dozens of clutch upgrades, PCW, Skydoc's, and the cheap method of doubling up 2 stock springs. I have done all 3 methods on Ventures I have owned, and they all work great, it's all about how much money you want to throw at it.

Hey squidley, besides the money differance, which of the three did perform the best? if you want to pm with the info you can. i'd like to save money however to me the performance is the bottom line, well with in reason i guess.

Mark,

Budget wise, doubling the stock diaphragm spring and replacing the back half friction disc with a full one is probably the cheapest route. You would need to have the cover gasket on hand too in case the old one doesn't come off in 1 piece. This also was the one that really locked the plates up and worked very well, only drawback is your left hand WILL get a workout. The clutch handle pull is noticeably harder and in stop and go traffic you might be cursing under your breath.

The PCW route will run you just under $100 shipped and comes with a new gasket, full friction disc for the back, and new thicker diaphragm spring, it's plug and play all the way.

Skydock's kit is the same way and is a bit cheaper in price. If you want to go the budget route PM me as I believe I have an extra stock spring, as well as a full friction disc I can get to you.

I just completed mine. Just thh upgrade full friction disk and upgraded spring. All went along smoothly.

The only thing i was concerned with i saw some blueing on the steel disks and I know I didnt slip but a hand full of times unless there was more slipping that I didnt notince. It wasnt bad so i scuffed them up and reinstalled.

I also have a set of barely used brake pads I will let go real cheap.

Thanks Skydoc for mentioning the pads. Im glad i purchased them. if anyone is thinking about thier brakes this one change increased my stopping power. I didnt realize that using a cheaper brake pad could make your stopping power suffer.

Ok whos interested in the pads.?

I bought the bike with these installed. The frints were not as bad but the way the brake feels now I think i had inferior pads.

Quick update here.I think I know my last 3 steel plates had bluing on them.I found out tonight on the way home when I down shifted like usual abd the rear end broke loose skidding until I pulled the clutch.

I guess I have been slipping more than I thought. Not to mention it feels like I have way more power.A result of no slip.
