Well dang......that shot my goal of a 12 month riding season this year. Yeah, I know, no big deal for some of you southern boys but in Nebraska it's a rare thing.

I started riding the bike to work everyday back in mid March of 2011 and never even got in the car again except on a few really nasty days until this month. I think it was less than 5 days of not riding in that time.

The temps dropped down to -3 last night and I decided to pull the battery out and bring it in.

Hope it warms up a couple days so I can take another shot at this. At least above 15 degrees. :whistling: But it's supposed to snow again tomorrow so I better gas up the cage.

11 months....... best year ever for me.

Now I'm bored.

good luck with your goal, I am sure the weather will cooperate with you. (keeping my fingers crossed for you)

(BTW as long as youre battery holds a good charge and is fully charged you shouldnt have to bring it in. My Escapes battery has been out below -40f and not frozen. My bikes battery has been out in -20f with no issues and the bike started up just fine. BUT if the battery doesnt have a charge or of its getting weak, there is a real possibility it could freeze at a real cold temp)

Hey Mike,

I rode 100 miles last Monday! 47 degrees and sunny. It was snowing, and 9 degrees this morning, winds at 35 MPH. I don't remove my batteries on any of my vehicles, but I do tender them all. I am on year 4 on the 89'VR, and year 3 on the 87'VR, with no problems yet. I just replaced the battery in my 1990 GMC Jimmy after 6 years back in August, I am pretty sure that 5 year battery was helped along by tendering it. Both my GMC Jimmy and My Nissan Maxima have A/C and every electric option, so they are pretty hard on the batteries. At over a hundred bucks a pop for a new battery in any vehicle I own, the minute or so it takes to plug in the battery tender is worth the effort in my opinion.

I hope you are back riding soon, "Come on Global Warming!" :whistling::crackup:

Brian! How can you say such a thing? It's a DEKA!!!

I marked the battery when I installed it. April 2009. It's still at 12.8 volts every time. It has never been below 97% power. Never ever had a tender on it.

Ok, maybe I'm too attached to this battery. :whistling: We all have issues. :smile5:
