silver08 Posted February 12, 2012 #1 Posted February 12, 2012 hi all. is it ok to use battery tender jr on my 08 rsv? the owner man. says don't use a conventional charger as it could damage the battery. I like to use the battery mounted pigtail so you don't have to remove the seat to maintain batt. thanks

Freebird Posted February 12, 2012 #3 Posted February 12, 2012 Yes, it is fine. Some people say that you shouldn't use one on a dry cell type battery but that is false also. You should never use one to CHARGE that type of battery but to maintain it with one is absolutely no problem.
saddlebum Posted February 12, 2012 #5 Posted February 12, 2012 Before getting my battery tender I used a 2 amp charger and a wall timer. I left it hooked up to the bike all winter and set the timer so the battery would charge for 1/2 to 1 hour every day depending on the size of the battery. I only switched to the battery tender because when I bought my VR it came with one.
