Marcarl Posted February 12, 2012 #6 Posted February 12, 2012 Just to think that today all that info is contained in a computer the size of a CELL Phone or less and the cell phone has just gone through an Eck-perience.
GolfVenture Posted February 12, 2012 #7 Posted February 12, 2012 But do you remember how to use it? I'm a little rusty especially on the Logarithms and Mantissa and Trig. Never looked back after I bought my HP-35 and still have it also.
aharbi Posted February 12, 2012 #8 Posted February 12, 2012 Hey, early in the clips I saw an engineer using a post slide rule. I still have mine from high school. My granddad was an engineer (civil), my dad was an engineer (civil), and so am I (electrical/electronic). We all used slide rules. When I got my first "hand calculator" I would double check with my slide rule. I was still faster with the slide rule until they came out with the multi-function calculators. I have since inherated my granddad's and fathers slide rules. One is made with a glass magnified slide the rule is teak and ivory with interchangeable slides. I even have a slide rule tie clasp. I showed it to my son in law, he had no idea what it was I was disappointed.
