rstacy Posted February 7, 2012 #1 Posted February 7, 2012 The maintenance is done! Thanks guys for all of the help. My Rick Butler seat came in today to round off the package. I replaced all of the broken plastic. (no more tie-wraps) Changed the starter/thermostat/o-rings/antifreeze Balanced the carbs Repaired the CLASS system Changed the oil and filter Installed a remote garage door opener (works off of the high beam switch) Installed brake activated flasher LEDs in the front and rear lights (This may get me in trouble) I may still do Progressive springs. (probably will) Bring on the nice weather!
dingy Posted February 8, 2012 #2 Posted February 8, 2012 Installed a remote garage door opener (works off of the high beam switch) How does it do this? Gary
Venturous Randy Posted February 8, 2012 #3 Posted February 8, 2012 With my bike being a standard without CB and intercom, I picked up a Royale left side handle grip with the PPT button and wired my remote garage door opener thru it and mounted the opener on the inside of the fairing between the headlight and signal light. If you used the high beam circuit, does that mean your sending unit is sending out a signal all the time the high beams are on? On mine, which has a battery inside, I just wired across the button contacts and the PPT button now closes that circuit. RandyA
rstacy Posted February 8, 2012 Author #4 Posted February 8, 2012 How does it do this? Gary My wife found a device that transmits a signal to a receiver when it receives two quick pulses. In my case, two quick blips from the high beam switch. The receiver in the garage then activates the door opener. Its way better than me fumbling with the garage door transmitter while coming down the driveway. If you used the high beam circuit, does that mean your sending unit is sending out a signal all the time the high beams are on? No. It only transmits after two quick pulses and then only for a few seconds. Just long enough to activate the receiver.
