I have a 2003 rsv, the question is do rear signals have running lights?. My fronts are lit all the time, has been like this since I bought the bike. Do yours burn all the time?

Look at Custom Dynamics, they have a kit to convert to run, brake, turn signal. It adds additional lighting to the rear of the bike which improves safety. I might add that quite a few of us have converted to this system, a little bit of a pain to install the extra wiring but nothing that can't be handled in an afternoon. Also these are LED and you will require a signal stabilizer, call them and they'll help you out acquiring the right components.

Yea I dont know all the law number etc, but basicly lights to the front are yellow, and anything past like half the distance to rear are to be red if on as marker lights. Ambers are OK for turn (ie: the european invasion back in teh 80's) But if its on as a marker or running light in the back needs to be red. That way when the cager looks up after dropping thier phone from texting they know if they are going to run into or over you.

I have been on a hunt looking to swap out the current bulbs for LED. Not looking to install the $150+ light pannels just swap the bulbs. I had a thought about this rear running/turn thing. The current socket is a single pin for onlt turn. But available at your local parts house is replacment pin plates. The part where the wires go. So if you got a couple of those off the "help" section and installed them in the rear sockets and ran one to the turn side and the other to a running lite signal you should be good to go right? Of course you would have to run a red LED bulb to stay in theme back there.

I was going to change the brake light bulb to one of those that pulsed and rotated but I read here they dont do us much good as the bulb is mounted with the top facing up. So that looks like a no-go.

I'm investigating changing the contacts over to a 2 point or maybe if I can find it a complete socket for an 1157 bulb. As far as making it red, I am buying red bulbs for the back and ambers for the front, white for brake.

Instead of changing over to two point sockets, I just remove the bottom tip on a regular 1157 and it fits right in, have had no problems.
