Hi All,

 

I found this list on an other forum and thought I would pass it on. I'm sure everybody has their own specific items they take.

TRIP SUPPLIES

 

1. Rain gear

2. Standard Tool kit that comes with the bike

3. Tire plug kit with new plugs/snakes purchased periodically (to avoid dry rot)

4. Several CO2 cartridges (the size used in paint ball games) and a CO2 inflator

5. A can of slime under pressure

6. A sharp knife (actually from the ROK that we got at an AVA Rally)

7. Fuses (assorted amp)

8. Bottle of water

9. Extra zip ties

10. Duct tape

11. extra bulbs (some of the auto companies sell a package that has one of each type of bulb you might need).

12. Bike Cover

13. Windshield cleaning supplies (Lemon Pledge and a $5 package of terry towels)

14. Bungie Cords

15. Sunscreen

16. A large U shaped lock.

17. Set of metric allen wrenches-avoid ball end wrenches

18. Set of sae allen wrenches (for after market stuff)-avoid ball end wrenches

19. Set of 3/8 drive metric 6 point sockets

20. Set of 1/4 drive metric sockets

21. 3/8 drive universal joint

22. 1/4 drive universal joint

23. 22mm socket

24. 19mm socket

25. Set of JIS screwdrivers (size 2 is probably all you'll ever need)

26. Set of metric combination wrenches

27. Appropriate ratchets and breaker bar (for rear lug nuts, hence breaker bar)

28. Large flat tip screwdriver

29. Small flat tip (maybe a #1 or smaller)

30. 12V air compressor

31. Sticky rope plugs to plug a tire

32. 5-6 foot length of tubing to use as siphoning hose

33. Diagonal cutters (dikes)

34. Pocket knife

35. Electrical tape or duct tape

36. Flashlight

37. Small section of wire (3-4 ft of 16-18AWG)

38. A few rags & hand cleaner

39. Tire pressure gauge

40. Tire depth gauge

41. Spare valve stem

42. Bungee cords

43. Fuse assortment

I think the one thing missing is the trailer to haul it all.....:confused24:

Those are the best thing since sliced bread IMHO.

 

If they are of good quality, I agree they can't be beat. :cool10:

If they are low grade they don't grab enough metal and will tear off the corners leaving you with a swizzle stick.:doh:

Items are same or simular:

7 & 43 are the same

3 & 31 same

6 & 34

10 & 35

14 & 42

I dont need to carry all those tools anymore either.....................:twing: :cool10: :rasberry:

but I do have a trailer...

Bet the list came off a site like Advrider. There are enough tools on that list to rebuild an offroad bike....

Ride-On in the tires, 12vdc tire pump, minium tools, and a cellphone.... :whistling:

I have always carried a well-stocked toolkit on my bike(s). Never once have I had to use them on my own scoot but I've saved a couple H H H H ardly riders butts. Even helped a Winger once (geeeez, hope that isn't some kinda "omen") LOL

 

Correction .... back in 1976 when I had my '72 Bonneville ... I had to pull the tranny and fix it on the side of the road once ... or was it twice? can't remember ... that POS was always breaking down LOL

I carry most of this list plus several additional items. Off the top of my head,

 

At least 2 soft straps.

At least 2 ratcheting tie downs.

Set of mechanic picks

Assorted screws and nuts

27mm combo wrench

Multimeter

Leatherman

Small ball peen hammer with cut down handle

Complete setup to field bypass ignition

First aid kit

Nitrile gloves

Various electrical connectors

It all fits in the right saddle bag. Left saddle bag is for riding clothes (different gloves, heated gear, jacket/pant liners, boot rain covers, water, Plexus/towel). Top box is for travel clothes, computer, toiletries kit, etc. The only difficulty I have is when needing to pack an extra pair of shoes. These size 15s don't just squeeze in anywhere.

 

I usually just pack the shoes full of my extra socks and underwear so they are not completely wasting space.

 

If I am going for a 4-5000 mile trip, I need all this stuff with me. Most have never been used (except the clean underwear:smile5:). However, if any of the tools are required, and I don't have them, it is really expensive.

 

If I am taking my wife with me, she gets the top box and I strap a bag to the trunk luggage rack.

I'm the reverse of that.

 

I don't quite carry ALL of the stuff listed but I do have a fair amount of it.

 

Good to discuss this though as it does cause a light bulb to turn on (like... hmmmm now there's one thing I didn't think about...)

If i wanted clean underwear I wouldn't pack them in smelly shoes just saying. Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it unless your prone to accidents.:rotf:
