Monty Posted February 3, 2012 #126 Posted February 3, 2012 Well, I fired up my nitro car for the first time today. It has a .28 engine. Nitro is kind of a pain. Electrics are so much easier. I started it up and am in the break-in process. This thing is a screamer. Definitely converting my big plane to electric.
Flyinfool Posted February 3, 2012 #127 Posted February 3, 2012 I have one electric aircraft left to sell and then everything I have will be back to burning some kind of fuel, either glow, gas or JetA1. Electric is too much work.
muaymendez1 Posted February 3, 2012 #128 Posted February 3, 2012 I have decided to go electric with airplanes because of the congestion in my neck of the woods.Adio simple to connect the battery throttle up and go for 30 minutes then pack up with out cleanup and go home. I dont have much time ,with work family ,and riding pulling in different directions I think electric is much easier, especially with all the new improvements.Motors pumping oit so much power with less energy consumption
Flyinfool Posted February 3, 2012 #129 Posted February 3, 2012 And that folks is why we have choices.. If either method of making the propeller spin was vastly superior in all cases. then the other would be off the market in no time. We have club members that fly both electric and fuel, some are all electric and some are all fuel. We ALL have a blast. The discussions at the flying field are always comparable to 1st vs 2nd gen discussions.
muaymendez1 Posted February 3, 2012 #130 Posted February 3, 2012 [quote We have club members that fly both electric and fuel, These are called confused! Lol
Monty Posted February 4, 2012 #131 Posted February 4, 2012 Well, electric is definitely for me. I finally got to try out my new truggy today. Nitro is a pain to get adjusted right, and I have blisters on my hands from pull starting. When it runs good, it's stupid fast...lol. We have a neighbor that likes to chase our vehicles, and thinks he's a bada$$. Well, he thought he was gonna be tough and scare my little RC car....wrong! I chased his but all over the place. He's not as fast as he thought...lol. This car is supposed to do 65mph, and I believe every bit of it...lol. Still got some tuning to do on it, but overall, it was fun.
muaymendez1 Posted February 4, 2012 #132 Posted February 4, 2012 I had 4 different rc cars and could never get the full speed out of it. i was too scared guess just not experienced enough. my Tmaxx had a 2.5 motor and it had a 3 speed tranny. i only got up to 2nd gear before losing control and having to preform costly repairs. same with my hpi nitro rustler. and offna ld on road car.
rstacy Posted February 4, 2012 #133 Posted February 4, 2012 Very nice selection of fling wings. Should have my new Art-Tech Hughes 300 Special Edition 400 class within the next few days. Actually this is a better shot of the collection. Most of them are in there. The airplanes are in another part of the shop.

Black Owl Posted February 4, 2012 #135 Posted February 4, 2012 RStacy. You need help man.Its called intervention Well, as they say... One man's hobby is another man's obsession... But did you note that none of them appear to have been customized by crunch....
Carbon_One Posted February 4, 2012 #136 Posted February 4, 2012 Well, as they say... One man's hobby is another man's obsession... But did you note that none of them appear to have been customized by crunch.... Maybe they're wall queens? Larry
Black Owl Posted February 5, 2012 #137 Posted February 5, 2012 Maybe they're wall queens? Larry Ouch...... :rotfl: But he did post one pic of them at least in the trailer.......
Flyinfool Posted February 5, 2012 #138 Posted February 5, 2012 It also seem that he likes Edge blades.......
Sideoftheroad Posted February 5, 2012 #139 Posted February 5, 2012 Check this trainer out. Wingspan is as big as I have seen them and for around $60 less. Not sure if this has been posted before http://www.nitroplanes.com/93a300-1400-skytrainer182-blue-arf.html
muaymendez1 Posted February 5, 2012 #140 Posted February 5, 2012 just remember the important terms. RTF ready to fly which means maybe 1-2 hours assembly time + charge time ARF almost ready to fly. - you need to purchase and install radio equipment, motor, electronic speed control and so on. RTC this one is old but In my flight time manufacturers would sell aircraft already built out of balsa wood ready for you to cover with silkspan or MONOKOTE mylar film Kits are usually wood and you have to build with glue and jigs and the works to get it ready to cover then add your electronics and engine/motor. Kit building is tough and time conduming but very rewqarding. Takes alot of patiences because you want to aurfram true and squae. 3 same modles can fly differently built by the same person. due to small changes in weight . Glue, sanding, covering ... the kit you ust posted is a floamie ARF. it needs electronics. and some minor assembly . maybe 5 hours of buildtime
muaymendez1 Posted February 5, 2012 #141 Posted February 5, 2012 http://images.rcuniverse.com/art/kits/glorcmtrain.jpg this is what i started on http://www.toysonics.com/images/D/GPMA0210-01.JPG this was my second one with a massive 78 inch wingspan. massive at the time. It needed a larger power plant [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73J6jr3eDNI]supersportster60kit - YouTube[/ame] This is what it was like. and last is the one I always wanted [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8kufCheaNA]Ultra Sport 60 flight - YouTube[/ame] Ok off to get my mind of rc
Sideoftheroad Posted February 5, 2012 #142 Posted February 5, 2012 Never mind. I just read comment on the manufacturers web-site about parts missing out of the box, nose breaks off easily and that part is always out of stock.
rstacy Posted February 5, 2012 #143 Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) Maybe they're wall queens? Larry Nah. My son flies competitively.. Edited February 5, 2012 by rstacy
Flyinfool Posted February 5, 2012 #144 Posted February 5, 2012 Never mind. I just read comment on the manufacturers web-site about parts missing out of the box, nose breaks off easily and that part is always out of stock. Nitroplanes is well known for not having great quality. and even worse parts support.
Eddie Posted February 5, 2012 Author #145 Posted February 5, 2012 Give that person with the camera in the last video a tripod. Holy cow I need an asprin now.
Trader Posted February 10, 2012 #146 Posted February 10, 2012 13.5 ft wingspan 6 years to build Even has parachute drops! I love the cockpit views. http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2012/02/09/giant-electric-airbus-a400m-with-parachutists/#utm_
Sideoftheroad Posted February 19, 2012 #147 Posted February 19, 2012 Just won a e-flite apprentice on eBay. The only issue they noted was the wing and/or fuselage may have a few light dents/dings on fuselage. Saved $60+ including shipping over buying brand new.
Sideoftheroad Posted February 19, 2012 #148 Posted February 19, 2012 I also checked out a Craigslist ad today and bought a Goldberg Eagle 2 trainer and an AA Industries (designed by Bud Nosen) P51, $90 for both. If anyone is looking for some planes (some need repaired) let me know and I can email you the pics and pricelist he sent me.
Flyinfool Posted February 20, 2012 #150 Posted February 20, 2012 Amazing how fast these RC things can breed if left alone without proper supervision.
