"Fixation" is something all we riders should be aware of at all times when riding. I avoid fixation by reminding myself that the bike will go where I am looking....that works for me anyhow....:whistling:

Boomer....who sez looking at a Dairy Queen will get me into a Dairy Queen too....:cool10:

With a little practise, you can get each of the 3 yellow dots to fade out, one at a time, and then fade back in again ... try it !

I think most car drivers fixate on where they are going and don't see what is around them.

Well, I was sure "fixated" on not going into the ditch like so many others did enroute to the Abbotsford airport Sat morning @4:30 .... 6 inches of snow turns the No 1 freeway into a real mess! (Nina's off to Saskabush to visit her mom).

I sometimes wonder if people fixate on the single point of light that is a MC headlight and then go where they look.

All of my life I have worked on not going where I look in anything that I drive.

I have practiced looking at the source of danger while driving away from it.

While taking flying lessons my instructor commented that I was the first student that he ever had that could look at something over my left shoulder and continue to fly in a straight line. Most people will look left and turn or at least drift left.

Just had another thought.... dangerously thinking.... What would the results be if all the objects were different instead of yellow dots... Car.. motorcycle.. bike.. pedestrian??? I wonder if the results would be the same??

This is a really good demonstration of what happened to me several years ago. I was on a four lane divided highway in the right lane with a car passing me going just slightly faster than me. There was a girl waiting to pull out from my right and just as the car in the left lane was about even with me, the car coming out of the road to my right started pulling into my lane. There is no doubt she was committed and what she was waiting on was to make sure the guy that was to my left was not going to change lanes and hit her. As obvious as I was, she got fixated on the car and did not see me because, just like the yellow dots, I disappeared.

What did make her see me was my loud air horns blasting. I was lucky on this one because the thing I remember most was "This is gonna hurt"
