SilvrT Posted January 13, 2012 #1 Posted January 13, 2012 Check this out... http://www.ridelust.com/new-process-replaces-chrome-plating/ http://chromesolutions.de/
Sylvester Posted January 13, 2012 #2 Posted January 13, 2012 That is some really great stuff. Think of all the things you could chrome with that.
rstacy Posted January 13, 2012 #3 Posted January 13, 2012 It looks like a great product but according to the article, that particular company has gone out of business. I wonder if you bought the pieces to do the finish or if you sent the pieces to the business. Ray
Eck Posted January 13, 2012 #4 Posted January 13, 2012 I think it would be useless on fork tubes and or large metal parts such as luggage racks, handlebars, triple trees...carb covers... I did not catch anything mentioned about "Long time durrability" and or ability to with stand heat in the vid..That stuff may not be long lived.. in the outside harshness of the enviornment. As Jat mentioned... if you have a bumper it would be better to send it to a chrome shop.. but for small pieces of (interior) plastic..blah, blah, blah.. Chroming master cycl covers may be the limit..who knows... Be neat though to be able to have a KIT of "A, B, C" cans and be able to do this in your garage for practice on stuff around the house...
Pegasus1300 Posted January 13, 2012 #5 Posted January 13, 2012 OK so according to the first article the company is not around anymore. On the scond website most of the information on the home page is in Latin. So is this still for real or what. It would be cool if it still exists
wideopenrod Posted January 13, 2012 #6 Posted January 13, 2012 Now that there is really cool! A man could make some money doing that!
Midicat Posted January 13, 2012 #7 Posted January 13, 2012 ...to do this in your garage for practice on stuff around the house... LOLOL chrome coffee table, chrome toilet. chrome dog LOLOL
Flyinfool Posted January 13, 2012 #8 Posted January 13, 2012 It is a darn good thing that this process is to expensive for me to get into......... There is no telling what I might do.
bongobobny Posted January 13, 2012 #9 Posted January 13, 2012 Yah! Highly interested! As far as longevity, it will only be limited by how good your clearcoat finish is...
cimmer Posted January 13, 2012 #10 Posted January 13, 2012 Check out this site: http://goldtouchinc.com/cosmichrome/ Or this site: http://www.freecarkits.com/chromecar.htm They are spraying the stuff on cars and motorcycles. Rick F.
Lil Venturous Posted January 14, 2012 #11 Posted January 14, 2012 I feel it could last forever. Some of the clearcoats out there now are rock hard. I believe it may flex more then chrome too. I do wonder how it would do on pot metal as it pops over time? Maybe better than chrome? Paints and clearcoats well split loose from metal and look like a blister intead of popping like a zit as the chrome does.
dacheedah Posted January 15, 2012 #12 Posted January 15, 2012 U could chrome a first gen and make it look as fast as a second . . .
Flyinfool Posted January 15, 2012 #13 Posted January 15, 2012 U could chrome a first gen and make it look as fast as a second . . . I thinks you have that bass ackwards. But either way the 1st gen will still be faster........ If it don't go chrome it...
SilvrT Posted January 15, 2012 Author #14 Posted January 15, 2012 U could chrome a first gen and make it look as fast as a second . . . Took long enuf !! I'd bet if we reviewed each thread ever posted, we'd find that in almost every one there's a 1st gen/2nd gen "who's the fastest" comment.
KIC Posted January 15, 2012 #15 Posted January 15, 2012 Took long enuf !! I'd bet if we reviewed each thread ever posted, we'd find that in almost every one there's a 1st gen/2nd gen "who's the fastest" comment. Never saw a 2nd Gen is faster post, just mainly the 2nd Genners whining about the 1st Gens being faster, more desirable, a man's bike and having better looking riders...
SilvrT Posted January 16, 2012 Author #16 Posted January 16, 2012 Never saw a 2nd Gen is faster post, just mainly the 2nd Genners whining about the 1st Gens being faster, more desirable, a man's bike and having better looking riders... Well, since you're relatively new here, you got a lot of "catching up" to do....
dacheedah Posted January 16, 2012 #17 Posted January 16, 2012 It's all love, and having owned both, I just wanna see one all chromed. When I ride next to ya I can see myself , rolling mirror. . .
steamer Posted January 16, 2012 #18 Posted January 16, 2012 It's all love, and having owned both, I just wanna see one all chromed. When I ride next to ya I can see myself , rolling mirror. . . Mine comes close. the only thing not chromed is the tank, fenders and bag's. Oh and the seats... and the wheels.
dacheedah Posted January 16, 2012 #19 Posted January 16, 2012 AAh the seats, the seats might be a bit overkill but I wanna see it once. . .
