Someone drove by and inquired if I was interested in selling my 76 Chev Luv (156K miles). It is in really bad shape. Has a cracked head and has been parked for 15 years. I'll attach some pictures. The only thing I know about parts vehicle is that I'm looking for a 90 to 93 1st gen for parts for about $500.00.

If readers could give me their opinion I'd appreciate it.

Older truck parts around here go for $40-$75 per panel ( door, fender, hood etc. ) In my opinion somewhere in the $300-$500 for the whole truck if I was wanting to get rid of it. :2cents:

If you parted it out and sold everything that was good on E-bay you may get a few hundred, check with you local scrape yard and see how much they are paying you may get more that way. I have seen ones running selling for less than a grand.

you can always look up what used parts go for on line and go by that or like was said sell the whole thing for $500.00 its really only worth what some one wants to pay for it... and thats if you want to sell it. I have a `53 8N tractor in my back yard, have been offered a few hundred for it, but not what I want for it so it can sit there, not hurting a thing where its at.

Good luck!

Why am I looking through someone else stuff . To many episodes of American Pickers I guess. Load that truck down with all of that junk sorry couldn't help it tow it to the scrap yard. Probably have close to enough money for the bike and :stirthepot: guess what have a place to put it. Just my :2cents:

There is something to be said for the scrap value.

Ask the guy what he is willing to pay and come to some agreement. I would think a couple hundred for scrap price would make both of you happy.

It would me! :missingtooth:

put them washers and dryers in the bed and push it across the scale.

scrap is at a high point as stated.

scrapping it is one viable option......imo if someone is looking to put it back on the road - i'd rather take that option and save some vintage sheet metal and see it going down the road. i guess i've got a soft spot for seeing older vehicles/bikes on the road.

For me the answer is "not much" and maybe you would have to pay me to take it from you. That being said the world of auto collectables and parts cars is something that I am far removed from. I hope that you get a lot of money for it.

Just curious but what's his intentions for the truck? Restoring it or perhaps swapping good parts off of it onto one he already owns?

I too like to see the older cars & trucks rolling down the road.

Well I was initially answering his carigs list add for some small parts. Now he wants to see if he can get it started at my place. The part at my place is something that I'm not too keen on. I would prefer that he just tows to his place. I told him that the origional head was cracked for steam came out the exhaust and I got a used head from the wrecking yard and I got it running only it ran really ruff. I may have gotten the timing chain off. I intended to make another attempt at the head later. Well you know how time flies. It has been over 10 years now.

I say let him try to start it, but no working/maintenance allowed. Give him a time limit, like a 1/2 hour, then he has to tow it away. You don't need a stranger in your drive ripping apart a car, and who knows how long it might take. And definitely cash in hand, as-is, up front.

Well we settled on $375 if I would hold it till the end of the month..

Do you have to dig it out ? If so your time may add up to more than you got.

Just joking, If I wanted to clean up the yard I would be have been more than happy with that deal.
