Yammer Dan Posted January 6, 2012 #26 Posted January 6, 2012 Since I already have insurance thats an unnecessary step for me. My coverage only covers me in my state. Maybe so but you dont wait 3 months into the "deal" to say something like theres been a long term cancellation. Man up and just say the truth if thats the case. Dont put out false excuses. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that: I agree completely with you on that Ruffy. I don't give a ....... if they don't like me but waiting this long is unacceptable.
Guest Posted January 7, 2012 #27 Posted January 7, 2012 Think I got it figured out. Called the Drs office today and asked that the dr himself call me back to discuss this. Never returned my call. Now, looking at the time lines from when I first set up the surgery and the timeline on the cancellation to the new date, well, its about the same amount of time. So the only thing that fits was that I was bumped from my slot for a more favorable or prominent patient. Explains why the surgical coordinator was extremely vague with her answers to me. Guess they just lost a 3 year "customer". I already have a new surgeon lined up and Ill see him on the 23rd.
Yammer Dan Posted January 7, 2012 #28 Posted January 7, 2012 Good luck with new one Ruff. It would be something to have a good set of legs again.
Hummingbird Posted January 7, 2012 #29 Posted January 7, 2012 Frustration coupled with pain = no fun at all ! Good luck with your new surgeon AND the rehab after surgery. Your pain now is a piece of cake compared to after the surgery BUT it will be short lived and you can throw the pain pills away.
Yama Mama Posted January 7, 2012 #30 Posted January 7, 2012 Jeff, with all that you have had to deal with with the previous doctor, it seems you are heading in the right direction. Just think if we get socialized medicine, it is not going to be a good thing. I hope your appointment on the 23rd. goes well. Yama Mama
Guest Posted January 12, 2012 #31 Posted January 12, 2012 Even though I havent met him yet I now have a new surgery date of Feb 21st, which amounts to only a 12 day delay. The surgery will be at Flagler hospital in St Augustine Beach. Thanks to all my friends here who have replied. I was really stressed out. Now I have something to look forward too again.
Carbon_One Posted January 12, 2012 #33 Posted January 12, 2012 Good luck Ruffy.:clap2: 2nd that. I too someday will probably doing the same as my knees are complaining already. Larry
Guest Posted January 17, 2012 #34 Posted January 17, 2012 Update to the update: Last week I had sent a 2 page letter to the Orthopedic Surgeons office outlining all of my recent events there and their inadequacies in their office staff communications, not really expecting any type of response. Looks like my letter shook the tree so to speak. Well, today I received a call from the head office manager profusely apologizing for the way my case was handled from the start. She wanted to make things right and outlined a plan that they are discussing to prevent this from happening to anyone else in the future. I was offered my old surgery date back and the option of another one on Feb 23rd. I told her I was sticking with my new OS, which she understood. About 8 pm the OS from the clinic in question called, also apologizing. Apparently he was never given my messages for him to call me and would I reconsider having him do the surgery. I asked him if anyone else is being moved to accommodate me and he said they took a much closer look at the schedules then they have done before and no, I would not be displacing anyone else. Then came the big question.....Do you really want to do this surgery or are you just doing it to make it "right". I wont take it personally if you answer the wrong way. He insisted that he wants to do this surgery on me. I told him I will consider this and call in the AM. So, this OS is really one of the best and I would hate to cut off my nose to spite my face so to speak and the hospital is first rate as well so I have something to consider here. I was impressed that they took the time to read my letter and respond right away. I was also impressed that the OS took the time to call me "off the clock". I did extensive research over these past few years and I feel very confident in his surgical abilities. So, after discussing it with my family I have decided to let the original OS perform the surgery. I do thank you for all of your input and for letting me vent. This is a serious decision for us to make and I really needed to make sure I made the right one.
Yammer Dan Posted January 17, 2012 #35 Posted January 17, 2012 Again Good Luck whichever way you go Ruff. This is one of those that you have to go with your feelings I think. I would explain things to the others involved as to how it came about.
