Carbon_One Posted January 5, 2012 #10 Posted January 5, 2012 While you'll probably end up as busy as ever, now at least you have the option of choosing what matters to you most. Enjoy your new found freedom. Larry
mm482 Posted January 5, 2012 #11 Posted January 5, 2012 Congratulations! I trust you will enjoy retirement as much as I have!!!!!! Earl:thumbsup2:
SapperMedic Posted January 5, 2012 #12 Posted January 5, 2012 I "retired" 28 Feb 2009, but because I had terminal leave from the army, I stopped working the 19th of Dec. By mid January my wife had enough of me wanting to go do something every day. She told me to go find something to do, so she could get something done around the house. I was driving her crazy. I went back to work as a civilian May 2009, doing almost the same thing for the Army. The difference is now my clinic is closed EVERY holiday and weekend. and I work 7:30-4:30, instead of getting the soldiers up in the mornings at 4:30 and putting them to bed @ 9:30 every night. I definitely do not miss having to drive downtown San Antonio to pick up a drunk soldier either. I guess it is a lot different than before.

hillrider Posted January 5, 2012 #14 Posted January 5, 2012 And some days I accomplish absolutely nothing. And still sleep good at night.
Hummingbird Posted January 5, 2012 #15 Posted January 5, 2012 I retired in February, 2005 at 62 yo - drove myself and my wife crazy for a couple years. Then I got a part-time job that turned into close to full time. Includes a lot of all expenses paid travel for both of us and get to try all the best steak houses we run into. I don't get to ride as much as a lot on here do but I ride as much as I want. Couldn't be happier
KIC Posted January 5, 2012 #17 Posted January 5, 2012 Congratulations. Now go out and get a 1st Gen so you can really enjoy life.
Aimhigh Posted January 5, 2012 #18 Posted January 5, 2012 As far as what you are going to do...if you are like us, you will be so busy, you will wonder how you got everything done when you were working!
