cabreco Posted December 26, 2011 #1 Posted December 26, 2011 I feel embarassed asking this because it's probably staring at me right in the face. I search the forum but found nothing, hence the embarrassment. My 84 Royale has the factory radio, no CB. The controller has an intercom button, so I assume the system is compatable with standard din headphones...but where do they plug in?? Andy
Rocket Posted December 26, 2011 #2 Posted December 26, 2011 The interface cables were optional on the Mk1 (83-85), so you may not have them. The interface cables plug into the top of the amp. Last I had checked, Serria Electronics still had them J&M kit YV-41 http://www.sierra-mc.com/search.asp?pg=1&stext=yv-41&sprice=&stype=&scat= Your headset lower cords plug into these interface cables.
cabreco Posted December 27, 2011 Author #3 Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) So if I bought the intercom cables for my 84 from a wrecked Venture I should only use 83 to 85? or am I good for ALL the Venture Royale? I see a lot of Royal Star Cables, are they the same? Edited December 27, 2011 by cabreco
bongobobny Posted December 27, 2011 #4 Posted December 27, 2011 Yes, all VR will fit. No, 2nd gen will not (I think). Check out Sierra as they are not that expensive new, and used may give you strange problems such as hum and static pop...
cabreco Posted January 3, 2012 Author #5 Posted January 3, 2012 Picked up a pair of 5 pin din cables on Ebay for $4 & they word great. Of course they are NOT right angle which will cause me a problem. I will either have to ger adapters OR try to reposition the radio/amp a bit. All in all, a pretty good day!
mbrood Posted January 3, 2012 #6 Posted January 3, 2012 you could probably "adapt" them easier with right angle, solder cup, DIN connectors from Digi-Key... http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/SDR-50/CP-1350-ND/352866 http://media.digikey.com/photos/CUI%20Photos/SDR-50.jpg
