Front brake switch

I need a brake light switch for the front brake master cylinder. This is for a 84 Venture Royale with cruise control. Does anyone know the part number and if it still can be purchased thru Yamaha? I think I read somewhere that you needed a four wire switch when having cruise.

The parts catalog is a bit fuzzy, year to year... while it shows a two wire for the 84, the 89 appears right.

 

Looking at the 89 which is a VR and it shows...

You will need the four wire switch for cruise. I have taken the brake switch apart on my 86, cleaned and resoldered the wires.

If problem is that retaining tab has broken on plastic housing you can drill and tap for a small (4mm) screw to hold it in. I did this on my clutch side switch and it has worked for a couple of years ok.
