Yucky day but worked out good

Rainy warm (64 degree day) and the power went out. Now that is not a good thing normally, bbbuuuttt it was good to get the generator out and use it for a few hours to make sure all is good before real winter comes. It started right up thanks to the Seafoam I keep in the system and I am confident that it will work fine for any future emergencies.

I start mine every 3 months and drain and refill the gas once a year, even with the seafoam added. I also always keep 20 gallons of fresh gas on hand, just incase. In many instances when the power goes out the gas stations are without power also, hard to get the gas out of the ground if they don't have power.

If you have natural gas, a natural gas generator is the way to go. Much more fuel efficient than a gas or propane genny and natural gas is almost always on. (unless some jackwagon cuts a line with a backhoe)

Natural gas service was turned off in New Orleans after Katrina. We had several customer's that had to make emergency conversions to propane or diesel. Every fuel source has it's drawbacks.

I use gasolene but I could switch the generator over to propane since I have a 500 gallon tank. I leave it with the gasolene since I can use it in my remodeling and roofing business that I have. In NC we really don't have a lot of need for the generator but some times the power fails. Now up in the mountains in NC, they need good generators and most use instant on like Generac.
