Odyssey Battery Group Buy

OK, it seems that we as a group are buying quite a few Odyssey batteries, and I thought I'd toss out this idea on doing a group buy like we've done in the past.

 

I called the Westcoast distributor for Odyssey, and because I've bought directly from them in the past my business is already set up as a dealer even though I've only bought for personal use.

 

They are going to have a price increase right after the first so I can't quote prices yet, but can after the first. There's no way we could put together a group order in only a couple of days. Sorry I didn't think of this sooner...???

 

The group buy price will be based on 10 units minimum, and any mix of the PC680MJ (1stGen) or PC545 (2ndGen) batteries. There's also a question of a possible drop ship directly from the distributor which could save a few more bucks over all. More on that later.

 

So, is there any interest from the board?? If not, that's OK, just thought I'd ask....

I'm not building a list just yet Jeff. Just trying to find out if there's enough interest. Once you get the batt you can do anything you'd like to with it..... If there is enough I'll start another thread.

As you know from helping me in my dead battery post, I went with a cheap ProStart from Pep Boys rather than drop 3x the money on an Odyssey. However if the price is right I would consider it as this battery does seem to be on the weak side.

 

Put me down as a definite maybe.

I was wondering... why the PC680MJ (metal jacket, outer case) for the first gen? I used the plain 680 and just had to shim the case to snug it up in the holder... slightly cheaper too. My neighbor is interested in one.

Hey, Jack - I would possibly be interested in one as well. Not sure how long batteries last - mine is 2+ years - 21K+ miles on it. Would imaging at some point would need to change over from the stock battery.

Oh hell, lets try to put an order of 10 batteries together before the end of the year. I'm going to post the anouncement in the watering hole and see if we can get 10 members.... Stay tuned. It's gonna be tight.....

Good for you for doing this, Jack! I just put a PC680 in this fall and highly recommend it. I'd get on the list had I not just done mine. I got mine from batteries Plus locally and since I used to be their UPS guy they gave me a deal, I paid $99 and was told that due to the price of lead, all battery prices had just gone up. Sounds like they are going up again so I'd say that 99 bucks delivered is a super price.

For those who were disappointed in not being able to get a Odyssey in the failed group buy, consider buying from this vendor at about the same price.
