Old Miner Posted December 15, 2011 #1 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) D. H. Lawrence's book. Not a bike related problem but I guess you are my only hope as I have tried every other avenue I can think of. I know how you get things sorted for our Ventures, so... Here goes: During the late 1970's and early 1980's the village I live in was used to film a four part mini series based on the book 'Sons and Lovers' by D.H. Lawrence. It was only ever shown in the UK once and that was shortly after completion, the rights etc were then passed over to Masterpiece Theatre over in the States and has been shown several times over there by them. Our village and people (including dogs) were used for the series and there are several local stories about the film, it is part of the fokelore of the area. But there is not a copy available in the UK. Just wondered if you good people out there knew where I could get hold of a copy of the series if indeed it exists.. Many thanks. Old Miner. Hope I have not put it in the wrong place. There are other versions, there is a film starring Vanessa Redgrave, and a more recent one starring Sarah Lancashire. There are other versions, most are readily available. Mini series of four episodes a joint venture between the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre: Sons and Lovers (D.H. Lawrence). 1981 15 May 1983 (USA) First Shown Trevor Griffiths adaptation. Starring: Eileen Atkins Tom Bell Edited December 15, 2011 by Old Miner More Information.

Flyinfool Posted December 15, 2011 #6 Posted December 15, 2011 Is this the one? http://aiquib.blogetery.com/2011/08/08/masterpiece-theatre-sons-and-lovers-download-full-film/
Old Miner Posted December 15, 2011 Author #7 Posted December 15, 2011 Thats the one BUT. I went to download it and it wanted to charge me a few dollars for a two day contract (no problem) and then another $96 dollars for the year. All on the same payment so I chose not to download it. So I am a bit disapointed as I do not know whether they will really cancell the years payment or charge me for it and never let me have it back. Old Miner.
MiCarl Posted December 15, 2011 #8 Posted December 15, 2011 I assume you're looking for the 1960 version? I found it on Netflix, but only streaming. They do not offer a DVD version. I take that to mean that a DVD does not exist. I found copies of a 2003 version on eBay, but my guess is that's not the one you're looking for.
Old Miner Posted December 15, 2011 Author #9 Posted December 15, 2011 Thanks for the reply. No it was a 1981 4 part mini series. Cheers.

The picture that they had on that page was the case for a 2 dvd set. So a dvd does exist, now you just have to find one.
GAWildKat Posted December 15, 2011 #11 Posted December 15, 2011 Amazon has the 2 DVD set but it's a region 1 set. That means only DVD players that can play north American DVD sets would be able to play it.

I'm, sure they have the solution.
