Flyinfool Posted December 13, 2011 #1 Posted December 13, 2011 So now that winter is almost here, and the riding season has or nearly has ended for most of us, what projects do you have planned for the winter? My projects for this winter in no particular order are; Front progressive springs. Service steering head bearings. New tires. Convert driving lights to HID. Lots more lights. Upgrade stator and RR for more power for all of the lights. Replace or add to the two Bad Boys horns with an even louder horn. Build receiver flag mount. Build receiver cooler rack. Clean up some wiring that was done in a hurry last summer. Finish making my version of the valve shim tool. Check my valve clearances. New spark plugs and wires. Carb diaphragms. Center brake light for the trailer. Cooler rack for the trailer. Some of these are not needed right away so will get done on a cash available basis. Dang that is a lot of work. I better get started soon.

Jeff, You know, since you are going to have this all set up you may as well make a few and sell the rest. Should I put in my order today? When you build the flag mount make in a slite V shape with one in the center so I can have 1, 2, or 3 flags if needed. Think of the EXTRA $$$$$ you will bring in for the rest of your projects? Flyinfool Posted December 13, 2011 Author #3 Posted December 13, 2011 It has been 20+ years since I welded aluminum, I have to see if I remember how to set up my welder and how to do it. Or does this mean that I need to go and get that nice new TIG welder that I have been trying to justify for the last 10 years. Here we go, more tool shopping.......:mo money: ....... so that I have the tools to help me spend more on the bike.........:mo money:

Flyinfool Posted February 26, 2012 Author #8 Posted February 26, 2012 Well I still have not gotten a darn thing done on the bike or trailer. Dang work. But I do have a growing pile of parts to put on. I have the new E3s to put on. I have the new reflector to put on I have the new carb diaphragms to put on I have the new spark plugs to put on I have the new HID driving lights to put on I have almost a thousand LEDs I can put on (might not need them all ) I have the parts to make the center brake light and controller for the trailer. I have my valve shim tool (it is out for testing now) I have the stuff to add lights to my shed so I can work after dark. Now I just need the time to be able to do all of this. I hate working 3 jobs.
Flyinfool Posted May 28, 2012 Author #9 Posted May 28, 2012 Arrrrrrrrrg.......... Just 3 more days till blastoff for MD and I have gotten very little done. I did get the critical for a safe trip things done. New tires. Carb issues went away by themselves. GPS mounted Broken plastic repaired, (Epoxy drying now.) Tunes set up to try to keep me sane (well sort of) for the 9 hour ride. Still have some important things to do; Find, buy and mount drink holder. Get some miles on these new tires to scuff them in, and get a feel for them. Mount High brake light on trailer and rewire trailer. Mount cooler rack, (ugly but functional) Make a list of what all to pack and then find and pack it all. Then decide what will be left behind once I run out of room. Things I'd really like to get done; Install HID driving lights. replace trunk reflector Add more running lights (the first half of this trip will be going through Chicago at night.) Get a couple of valve shim tools made up. The rest just ain't gonna happen before MD. Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Dinners done, back to work.......
