Freebird Posted December 15, 2011 Author #26 Posted December 15, 2011 Or, since you already own PdaNet... Are you aware that Androids can use PdaNet without rooting the phone? The iphone requires jailbreaking to use PdaNet, but an Android phone can use it right out of the box. Yes, I am aware of that and it is one reason that I am still on the fence about replacing the Blackberry with an Android or another Iphone. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I thought it would be an easy decision until I found a couple of Iphone apps that I really do like and they are not available for the Android. Primarily guitar amps. It's cool to plug sit in a hotel and plug my guitar into my Iphone and have a pretty darn decent modeling amp that plays right through my earbuds. Ampkit and Amplitude are two popular apps for this purpose and neither ... or anything else...are available for the Doid. From what I have found out in my research, they are not likely to be added anytime soon due to the fact that the Android does not support low latency audio processing. The delay between what you play and what you hear makes them useless on the Android. So....I am shocked to find that it is indeed NOT a perfect world.
CaptainJoe Posted December 15, 2011 #27 Posted December 15, 2011 You could buy this and bypass the oprerating system on your laptop: https://www.usb-audio.com/
Freebird Posted December 15, 2011 Author #28 Posted December 15, 2011 LOL...yea...like I want to lug that around. Besides, it's not the laptop...it's the phone.
CaptainJoe Posted December 16, 2011 #29 Posted December 16, 2011 It just figured at least then, you'd be able to use your laptop.... for something
Guest tx2sturgis Posted December 16, 2011 #30 Posted December 16, 2011 Just for grins: Next time you get a questionable wifi signal, turn on the wifi on the iPhone and see if it's able to grab some internet data. I have found that the iOS devices are pretty trouble free when connecting to public wifi. If nothing else, it's a good wifi tester.
Cougar Posted December 16, 2011 #31 Posted December 16, 2011 I just use a range ant. when the hotel connect sucks ,and plug it into the USB port and steel the signal from the near by hotels or houses:whistling:, the cost is only about 30 bucks and it is very small. works great ! The ant just clips to my laptop screen to the side.
BIG TOM Posted December 16, 2011 #32 Posted December 16, 2011 LOL...yea...like I want to lug that around. Besides, it's not the laptop...it's the phone. Hey Nancy, would you like a little cheese with that WHINE...?
Freebird Posted December 17, 2011 Author #33 Posted December 17, 2011 WOW...maybe...I DO love cheese.
