Fixing an Auto Keyless Entry Remote ?

Has anyone ever been sucessful in fixing the keyless entry remote. I have one that went dead. Tried a new battery, cleaned the terminals still dead. If you have how would one go about trouble shooting to determine which electric component needs replacing?

What type of car is this for? If it is a Ford I can definately walk you through diagnosing it as I have been a Ford technician for almost 20 years. Rob

Is there only one remote that you have? If there is another does the other one work? Sometimes I have found that the aftermarket ones will loose there programming and there will be a procedure in the installation/owners guide to reprogram. I am not familiar with the Clifford. do all functions not work ie. unlock, lock, panic?

I do have a 2nd one that works fine.

Do not have the origional installation/owners guide, not the origional owner.

None of the functions work on the broken remote.

I would try to get the programming procedures form Clifford. If that still does not work might be best to replace the remote, probably a lot easier than repairing and cheaper.

Not sure how that unit works, but on my Maxima, you program the car to the remote. Anytime I had to program the car, I had to reprogram it to all remotes. When I had two dark green Maximas, one for me and one for my now ex, both cars were programed to all remotes. If the cars were setting together, when I used the remote, both cars would lock or unlock simultaneously. If they were parked side by side, like at a restaurant, it was neat to watch people walk by and both cars blink at the same time. I could also roll down the front windows with the remote. That also tripped people out when standing beside the car. The downside was if I unlocked the trunk on one, both unlocked.
