GolfVenture Posted December 10, 2011 #1 Posted December 10, 2011 Has anyone ever been sucessful in fixing the keyless entry remote. I have one that went dead. Tried a new battery, cleaned the terminals still dead. If you have how would one go about trouble shooting to determine which electric component needs replacing?
friesman Posted December 10, 2011 #2 Posted December 10, 2011 I would try the forum for the brand of car, I am sure you wont be the firest that has had that issue. Brian

If it is a Ford I can definately walk you through diagnosing it as I have been a Ford technician for almost 20 years. Rob
GolfVenture Posted December 10, 2011 Author #4 Posted December 10, 2011 It is a 94 Saturn SC2 besides it is an aftermarket (Clifford). Wouldn't trobleshooting a remote be kinda of similar across different makes? Sure like to try. Where do I start? See picture.
wrenchrob Posted December 10, 2011 #5 Posted December 10, 2011 Is there only one remote that you have? If there is another does the other one work? Sometimes I have found that the aftermarket ones will loose there programming and there will be a procedure in the installation/owners guide to reprogram. I am not familiar with the Clifford. do all functions not work ie. unlock, lock, panic?
GolfVenture Posted December 10, 2011 Author #7 Posted December 10, 2011 I do have a 2nd one that works fine. Do not have the origional installation/owners guide, not the origional owner. None of the functions work on the broken remote.

If that still does not work might be best to replace the remote, probably a lot easier than repairing and cheaper.
Flyinfool Posted December 10, 2011 #10 Posted December 10, 2011 yup, start on the Clifford website to see if you can download the manual and try reprogramming your remote. You will need the manual for programing a new remote anyhow.
Venturous Randy Posted December 10, 2011 #11 Posted December 10, 2011 Not sure how that unit works, but on my Maxima, you program the car to the remote. Anytime I had to program the car, I had to reprogram it to all remotes. When I had two dark green Maximas, one for me and one for my now ex, both cars were programed to all remotes. If the cars were setting together, when I used the remote, both cars would lock or unlock simultaneously. If they were parked side by side, like at a restaurant, it was neat to watch people walk by and both cars blink at the same time. I could also roll down the front windows with the remote. That also tripped people out when standing beside the car. The downside was if I unlocked the trunk on one, both unlocked. RandyA
Hummingbird Posted December 11, 2011 #12 Posted December 11, 2011 if all else fails, there is probably several on ebay for sale - I've bought spares on ebay for different cars and had good luck
