Midrsv Posted January 9, 2012 Author #26 Posted January 9, 2012 Thanks again for all of the advice. I ended up using the Dremel oscillating tool. The granite people gave me a scrap piece of granite to use as a guide to cut. I placed it adjacent to the garage and leveled on the cabinet and ran the cutter along the stone. I ended up with a blades width of clearance with the stone. Inside the garage along the back wall I cut about 1/4 inch more clearance since it doesn't show. They come tomorrow to install the granite and undermount sink and then after that cures for a day I get to reconnect my plumbing and install a new disposer. And maybe next weekend start on a travertine backsplash. Got to get this job finished before riding season. Dennis
Midrsv Posted January 16, 2012 Author #27 Posted January 16, 2012 Slowly getting this project wrapped up. I spent all weekend setting tavertine tile. I think I'll keep my day job and not switch to tiling as ocupation. It took me two full days to set the tile and what seemed like hundreds of trips down the 5 steps to the garage to make a cut on the wet saw. Overall we're very satisfied with how things turned out. I just need to grout and seal the tile and put a few trim strips on the cabinets and install under cabinet lighting. So far I'm only about 50% over my estimated costs. Dennis
FreezyRider Posted January 16, 2012 #28 Posted January 16, 2012 Great job, Dennis! Looks really nice. You have more patience than I do, evidently!!
Sylvester Posted January 16, 2012 #29 Posted January 16, 2012 Looks fantastic. I kept my mouth shut about the Dremel vs. Porter Cable, but I have two Dremel multi tools that I use in my remodeling business and I love them. I have never had a problem with them and I work the heck out of them. The appliance garage looks like it was built there.
Wanderer Posted January 16, 2012 #31 Posted January 16, 2012 I'm a self employed contractor and I agree on this method. porter cable (sonicrafter) vibrating saw is a much better tool to work with then a Dremel multi-tool. However I have never slept at a Holiday Inn. Awe you're both dumber than owl dookie. It's Holiday Inn Xpress. I know cause I did stay at one and I'm really smart now.
