Wilbur59 Posted December 5, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2011 Sorry for the new thread, ok I'm ready to try to drill like 5 holes thru the cone on the end then I know you have to drill thru the other piece inside, question is, does this sound good and does this make sense to do this. I'm broke after getting this bike so for nor now new slip ons are not an option.
cecdoo Posted December 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted December 6, 2011 I personally dont care for the drilled out sound, but lots of guys like it, so its really up to the individual:think: I would just enjoy the bike while the weather is still decent in Pa. and keep an eye out over the winter for a nice set of used aftermarket pipes, they come up on the site alot. Ride out to MD in the spring, you can check out every after market pipe there is, and if ya want Squidly will be happy to drill yours out. on whatever you decide. flb_78 Posted December 6, 2011 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2011 Personally, I think Yamaha mufflers that have been drilled out sound like a mouse farting in a coffee can.
Wilbur59 Posted December 6, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted December 6, 2011 So maybe the holesaw in the cone and move the pipe out of the way would be a better deal for now, What do you guys think?
Kirby Posted December 6, 2011 Share #5 Posted December 6, 2011 "Footsie" had a pretty good idea as far a modifying the stock mufflers and they sound good too. Do a search for "footsie" and read about the way he did it. Then if you still want to drill, go at it. Oh, and by the way,
MikeWa Posted December 6, 2011 Share #6 Posted December 6, 2011 I prefer the dremel mod in this post. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41418&highlight=muffler Mike
bj66 Posted December 6, 2011 Share #7 Posted December 6, 2011 If you drill em and dont like em you're screwed. I'd wait a few months and save a few bucks. You can get some deals if you look. I just posted on your other thread, its an option that may not break the bank....
Wilbur59 Posted December 7, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted December 7, 2011 Ok I did the holesaw on the end of the cone, someone said about wiggleing the pipe back and forth until the spotweld broke then pull it out, mine must be welded good cause it wouldnt break off, I have it pushed to the side. But i would love to rip it out. It sound a little louder at idle and sound pretty good revved up, didnt get to ride it yet, rain in central Pa. today. How can I get those pipes out?
