Wilbur59 Posted December 5, 2011 #1 Posted December 5, 2011 Hi all, I'm a proud new owner of a awesome 2000 mm Venture, 3500 miles, this thing is sweet. I traded my Raider on it because I can never get a ride in without the wife. I love the Venture but I need pipes,I'm talking pretty loud. What do I want and where do I get them.
cecdoo Posted December 5, 2011 #2 Posted December 5, 2011 Look around for a set of Samson Fishtails they look great on the bike and they are loud! Lots of guys will get a used bike with them on and want to get rid of them cause they are too loud. You can get a good deal on a swap if you find a set. Welcome to the family, from another Pa rider:thumbsup: Craig
Wilbur59 Posted December 5, 2011 Author #3 Posted December 5, 2011 Thanks Craig who sells those new if I wanted a pair?
rickardracing Posted December 5, 2011 #4 Posted December 5, 2011 Just Google Samson pipes and follow the links.
okiestar Posted December 5, 2011 #5 Posted December 5, 2011 I've never heard these in person, but I've run stock, Road King and Samson slash cuts and none of them sounded as good to me as these.
darthandy Posted December 5, 2011 #6 Posted December 5, 2011 I've never heard these in person, but I've run stock, Road King and Samson slash cuts and none of them sounded as good to me as these. Now those sound really nice!! Kind of like an old '67 Chevelle SS with the 327. Andy
jburrell Posted December 5, 2011 #7 Posted December 5, 2011 It depends on how loud you want and what you are willing to $$$$$. I have Baron's Nasty Boy 4-2-4 pipes. Not overly loud but have a great sound especially with revs and the 4 pipes with slashes out the back look great IMO. For a cheap way just upgrade to the Harley pipes as you can get them fairly cheapy. Lastly you can drill out the back of the stock pipes for more sound and not change a thing. Info in the tech section is available on how to do this swap and the Harley pipe swap. I started with the drilled out stocks, then went to the Harley pipes then the Barons. Happy Holidays JB
Condor Posted December 6, 2011 #8 Posted December 6, 2011 It all depends on your definition of loud. Get 'm too loud and you'll be riding alone and without the wife... maybe that's your plan?? I run a set of Bubbs that give enough rumble to be noticed, but not enough for folks to call the dog catcher...
Sailor Posted December 6, 2011 #9 Posted December 6, 2011 I have LA Chopper bagger ovals. I wanted the Vance and Hines ovals but they would have cost over $1000.00. $800. for the pipes and the rest in shipping and tax. Instead I got the LA choppers. Less than half the price, all included. They are louder than I wanted but have a nice rumble at idle and cruise while they get loud enough to make Harley guys run for cover when you hit the throttle.
bj66 Posted December 6, 2011 #10 Posted December 6, 2011 http://www.kcint2.com/c=zNEUd69DLR1N44krCSDwLLExm/product/90-MUFFLER-MEG-09/KCINT-CUSTOM-SLIP-ON-MUFFLER-SET-FOR-HARLEY-DAVIDSON-TOURING-1995-2012.html These are supposed to be CFR knockoffs. CFR is a performance pipe that some HD guys run. I havent heard them in person (CFR origionals)but did listen to them on you tube. If you want loud they would be just the ticket. If these aftermarkets sound like the CFR's 199 a set would be a steal. I'll try and post a link of a set of CFR's as well. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-a6QN4XP_8&feature=related]Rinehart VS CFR Slipons - YouTube[/ame] These are CFR knockoffs, I wouldnt be surprised if it is this very same pipe. Much different than Rineharts, and everybody has heard Rineharts. Must be a million bikes out there with the Rineharts....Much deeper and louder. Put them on a V-4 and they would be wicked. I had a set of fishtails on my RSTD......they lasted a month, and I put my Barons Bag Slash's back on. The Barons sound nice after I wrapped the baffles as much as I could. And by the way I like loud pipes, but the fish's were way to sharp sounding for me....
