bull463 Posted December 4, 2011 #1 Posted December 4, 2011 Hi All Some of you my have seen that I have a new toy 1988 1500 Gold wing. The past owner put the NY state inspection sticker on the lower front fender. I really do not like this location. Do any of you have any other spots that may look good? I have been looking at chrome plates that mount like on the crash bars. Thanks Bull463
steamer Posted December 4, 2011 #2 Posted December 4, 2011 Bolt on inspection plates may not be legal. I believe it has to be afixed to the front lower left fork. I don't like sticking it to the fork, but better that then getting a ticket.
Sylvester Posted December 4, 2011 #3 Posted December 4, 2011 Here in NC we don't have the stickers anymore. The inspection is on a web at the state and the officer/deputy/trooper accesses it online or on the radio. I love this since I don't have to clean the sticky stuff off.
Squidley Posted December 5, 2011 #4 Posted December 5, 2011 Now what I'm about to say is probably not "legal" but I would keep the inspection sticker in the trunk where you have it if you have to prove the bike was inspected. I also DO NOT like to HAVE to put any kind of sticker on my bike because someone says I have to. If it has been legally inspected, then there shouldn't be any issue.
Rickster Posted December 5, 2011 #7 Posted December 5, 2011 Hi Bull Arport Cycles in Arkport, NY has many bolt on Inspection sticker plates to choose from, I was thinking of the same one that bolts to the crash bars. It may be illegal in NY but many bikes have them on.
PBJ Posted December 14, 2011 #8 Posted December 14, 2011 Hey Bull its a little late in coming from me but congrates on getting the wing. Is this the same one you rode to Tom's this summer? That was a great bike , If it is or not congratulations on the new(er) bike. I'm getting one too and one i've wanted for a while its an 86 black and gold unit . it only has 35k on it and has lots of extra's. Can't wait for us to go riding again next season. PB&J.
