My clutch is REALLY slipping, when the engine is cold. It slips a little when it gets hot if I try to make it slip (shift hard and wind it out).

For some reason, I don't have much luck searching this forum. I am sure this has been discussed to death. But, what is the best thing to do, to rebuild the clutch; and where is the best place to get the parts the cheapest.

Do I need just new springs, new fiber plates, or is there some kit that has every thing I need?

Thanks.

My RSV trike went out in Branson,Mi.Several of the club members talked me how to fix it in a parking.Nothing to the repair. To order a clutch kit call PCW Racing {518-346-7203} and talk to Johnhe . Good luck.

skydoc who is a member here has a kit that worked great for me. didn't take much; however, if you let it slip a lot then you might need to replace all the friction plates. I just replaced the spring and the half plate.

Hey Dana,

I really like your Avatar!

Here is a link to the Heavy Duty Clutch Spring Upgrade Kit I offer in the Classifieds:

http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3763&title=second-genheavy-duty-clutch-spring-upgrade-kit-21&cat=22

If you bike has been slipping for a while, you ride two up a LOT, or pull a trailer, I also offer the remaining 7 Genuine Yamaha Clutch Friction Discs as a package deal with the Clutch Spring Upgrade Kit. I ship these kits USPS Insured Priority Mail, so you could have your parts by midweek. Just it time for a weekend install. The kit comes with complete written instructions, with color pics, and my personal email address and cell phone number. The install takes about 2 hours for a first timer, and will be the best money you can spend on your RSV. It doesn't do any good to have all that power, and not be able to transfer it to the rear wheel!

If you have questions, or would like to order parts, please feel free to PM me.:thumbsup2:

2nd on Skydoc's kit...we gotta support our own!

Besides...who else would spend the time on the phone helping install what he sells?

I have been having a problem with my clutch on my RSV 2008 model, and, and I have just ordered the sky.doc replacement kit from him and hopefully I'll be getting it in time to have my mechanic get on it this weekend and have it ready before Christmas time.

my bike is a 2008 RSV with Champion Escort sidecar and I also haul a Tailwind trailer on on my bike.

Have all that power and not be able to transfer it to the rear wheel. I feel bad so I won't mention we are talking about 2nd Gens.....:whistling:

No kidding Guys Earl's kit will cure your clutch woes. You might want to change out the fluid while you are in there.

Dana, how many miles you got on that clutch before it started slipping?

Do you pull a lot of weight (two-up riding, pulling a trailer, etc)?

Thanks for the info.

In reading your post are you saying it slips a lot when it's cold and only a little when it heats up?? 'Cause that's generally the opposite of how a slipping worn clutch will react. You may have other issues..... that rebuilding the basket won't cure....
