Trader Posted November 28, 2011 #6 Posted November 28, 2011 A large crane like that tipped from just the pool weight? What? Was it full?
SteveW Posted November 28, 2011 #7 Posted November 28, 2011 they had it full of water so they could swim right away LOL
Brake Pad Posted November 29, 2011 #8 Posted November 29, 2011 many years ago, I saw a fire truck extend its ladder out with a guy on the end. just his weight, flipped the ladder truck over, and all the support legs were down. the proper leverage will move mountains
BuddyRich Posted November 29, 2011 #9 Posted November 29, 2011 Won't take a lot of weight when it gets that much leverage.
WyoStar Posted November 29, 2011 #10 Posted November 29, 2011 I used to rig for cranes like that one and bigger. You would be surprised at what will tip one over with that much stick out. That was only about a 70 or 90 ton crane.
SilvrT Posted November 29, 2011 Author #12 Posted November 29, 2011 I got a river to swim in..... Just make sure you jump in UP STREAM

Michael_Bishop Posted November 29, 2011 #14 Posted November 29, 2011 I had a fiberglass pool put in back in 1994. But I did not have a fence up yet and there was a street behind the back yard. Did not have that problem. But I did have to get a variance from the city to put it in. Because with the street there my back yard was consider a front yard.
WyoStar Posted November 29, 2011 #15 Posted November 29, 2011 Yeah, but not fully extended!! Exactly. Their max lift capacity is the main boom in an almost a vertical position, 10ft from center.
Yammer Dan Posted November 29, 2011 #16 Posted November 29, 2011 When I worked in the Virgin Islands I had a 80 foot boom truck. There is always a good breeze blowing there. One day I was on top of Crown Mountain the highest spot on the Island. Thought I would take a look and shot that boom straight up in the air. That breeze becomes a wind up there!! Still don't know how the view was up there. As soon as it hit the top it started over. I hit the down button and dropped as quick as I could. Lot of rocking and slid truck sideways about three feet with outriggers down. That was probally pretty close. that was the last time I tried that!!
WyoStar Posted November 30, 2011 #17 Posted November 30, 2011 Made you have to change your shorts I bet. I have seen them up on 2 outriggers when trying to get that last little bit of reach, several times.
