bongobobny Posted November 27, 2011 #1 Posted November 27, 2011 Just found this video about Buffalo and I wanted to share for those that might want to spend a little time in the area...
Freebird Posted November 27, 2011 #2 Posted November 27, 2011 Bob, Thank you for posting that. It is an excellent video. You know, I'm really just a small town country boy but unfortunately I find myself visiting a lot of cities due to my work. I'll admit that when it comes to mid to large cities, I'm a "glass is half empty" sort of person. I seem to dwell too much on the negatives and don't really take the time to look for the positives and the truth is, a lot of the cities are just full of interesting things, history, fun things to do....if I would just take some time to look around a bit. You know that I have been to Buffalo many times in the past and have many more visits to make there in the future. I'm going to try and find the time to explore the positives. Eileen and I are really looking forward to the International and I hope to see a lot of old friends there and make a lot of new ones.
RandyR Posted November 27, 2011 #3 Posted November 27, 2011 so, has the true source of Buffalo Wings been identified?
jonesy Posted November 27, 2011 #4 Posted November 27, 2011 One thing wife and I have taken in while we were at Buffalo - falls area was a boat ride on part of the Eire Canal, its say 2 hrs. long ride thur small towns and such. Kind of interesting thinking back on how that canal was thier lifeline back in the old days. There are people who spend week or two renting a house boat and cruising the canal. I understand you can travel to NY city from Buffalo on it. It leaves from Lockport, NY., 50 miles at the most due north from Pionneer Motorsports, and backroads all the way from the way I see it on a map. Just a idea that someone may be interested in taking to see some sights. I'm sure the local people know of the place. You can get to the falls from there and not hit Buffalo traffic if I remember right.
Trader Posted November 27, 2011 #5 Posted November 27, 2011 I hope we are not so lucky as to be "snowed in" at the IR
bongobobny Posted November 27, 2011 Author #6 Posted November 27, 2011 so, has the true source of Buffalo Wings been identified? Shucks, everyone knows the story of Chicken Wings! They were invented at the Anchor Bar one night when they ran out of one of their menu items. Before that wings were waste food but now are a Western New York staple. Some say that a wing was accidentally dropped into a deep frier. The traditional wing sauce is really just melted butter (never use margarine) and Frank's Hot Sauce. The ratio determines whether they are mild, medium, or hot. Others trying to duplicate the "secret" sauce have added BBQ sauce, tobasco sauce, and all sorts of other concoctions. That along with Roast Beef on Kimelwick rolls, and vinegar on french fries are some of Buffalo's culinary claims to fame. Trader, hopefully we won't see any snow in July...
