I need to replace my clutch and brake fluid in my 91 VR. It has 7000 origional miles and I'm pretty sure it could be the origional fluid. Any special process I should consider.

Open to fluid type recommendations and why.

Well, recommended is DOT3 and I also recommend synthetic as the boiling point is a lot higher. Use a vacuum pump and expect to see a lot of crud come thru. Keep flushing until the liquid is clear...

I second the vacuum pump, I found my Mighty Vac a very worthwhile investment. I Also put speed bleeders on my Goldwing when I rebuilt the brakes, that really simplified the process.

Could you be more specific on the Vacume Pump or is there only one size that is available.

I've never used a vacume pump what is the procedure in using it.

Any precausion I should take?
