GolfVenture Posted November 16, 2011 #1 Posted November 16, 2011 What heated grips would you recommend for a 91 VR MKII. What are the features one should look for in heated grips.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted November 16, 2011 #2 Posted November 16, 2011 what about 2nd Gen... can they be added on also? Just thinking out loud. :mo money:
Jactana Posted November 17, 2011 #3 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) I have used this kit with Symtec heaters on my '06, works great. Ron http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/Heated_Grips/heated_grips.html Edited November 17, 2011 by Jactana added link
GolfVenture Posted November 17, 2011 Author #4 Posted November 17, 2011 So when one buys heated grips it does not come with wiring accessory hook ups. Are there some good manufactures that include the wiring hook ups?
jfoster Posted November 17, 2011 #5 Posted November 17, 2011 My ST1300 came with them and I'm not sure if I like them or not. It's like grabbing onto a hot piece of pipe while the outside of your hands are still cold....weird sensation to me, yet I still use them.
Jactana Posted November 17, 2011 #6 Posted November 17, 2011 The Symtec's come with wiring, I just wanted the grips on a switched relay, so you don't kill your battery by accidentally leaing the grips on. Ron

Ron I have heated grips on my Suzuki gs500 and the dealer wired them into the ignition so when the ignition is off they are off also. I assumed that is how they would be wired on installation not right to the battery. I was just not sure if the Ventures had the power out-put to handle the grips... add in a heated vest or two..... just curious is all.
Jactana Posted November 17, 2011 #8 Posted November 17, 2011 You could wire them directly, they do draw some current so I think wiring them directly to the battery would be better. Mine are wired to the accessory plug in the fairing which is switched by the ignition, but the draw there is only to open the relay to the battery. I have a Kuryakyn LED ampmeter to monitor current draw. I can run the grips, my passing lamps and my vest without discharge. I'd highly recommend one of the for 35.00 they cost. Ron
