RandyR Posted November 8, 2011 #1 Posted November 8, 2011 The Zero electric motorcycles are becoming more attractive each year. The 2012 street version has a top speed of 88mph and range of 114miles. The battery pack is claimed to be good for 300,000miles and the company claims no routine maintenance is required. The cost for electricity used is equivalent to 300 mpg. http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-s/specs.php http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/images/zero-s/2012_zero-s_product-page_main-image.jpg

When I'm in a cage I can hear a bike before I see it most of the time. Now I can't see it -or- hear it. Wonder if they ever thought about that......
etcswjoe Posted November 8, 2011 #4 Posted November 8, 2011 I think I am going to schedule a test ride just to check it out, the closest dealer to me is in Asheville.
Flyinfool Posted November 9, 2011 #5 Posted November 9, 2011 I have a dealer just a few miles away from me. May have to check it out. I wonder how much 12V power is available for accessories.
rickardracing Posted November 9, 2011 #6 Posted November 9, 2011 Not attractive to me at all. Not even the electric cars.

You just put a baseball card in the spokes. Mike
playboy Posted November 9, 2011 #8 Posted November 9, 2011 Electric train horns and a rubber ball horn on the bars just to be safe
ragtop69gs Posted November 9, 2011 #9 Posted November 9, 2011 I sent a request for a demo ride. Don't think I'd buy one but I will try it out.

Freebird Posted November 9, 2011 #12 Posted November 9, 2011 I agree. I think it would be a lot of fun. There is no way that I could even think about spending that kind of money for one but if money were no object, I think it would be fun to have.
Wolf Posted November 9, 2011 #13 Posted November 9, 2011 For almost $12,000.00 you could buy a Klr 650 or 250, get better than 65 mpg, and have a bike you can ride anywhere. IMHO, there is no way to justify that price.
