tim76020 Posted November 5, 2011 #1 Posted November 5, 2011 I just traded a VTX 1300 for a 2006 Midnight Venture and this bike is awesome! The bike has bub slip-on but the previous owner removed the baffles and it is a little loud, for me anyway. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction! Maybe if someone has baffles that are not being used or I would be willing to trade these slip-ons for factory pipes... any sollutions would be greatly appreciated! The chrome on the tips are flaking off, fyi. I live in the Fort Worth, Tx area. Thanks.
tufftom4 Posted November 5, 2011 #2 Posted November 5, 2011 Welcome to the site, if there is someone that can help you it is here and I wish you well.
tufftom4 Posted November 5, 2011 #3 Posted November 5, 2011 Oh and don't mind flaky people like me we just tend to ramble on.....
V7Goose Posted November 5, 2011 #4 Posted November 5, 2011 Welcome to the site Tim. If you want to learn a bit about the bike, just grab some beer and bring it over. I'll go over it with you and fill you in on all the stuff a new owner should know. Goose
Gary N. Posted November 5, 2011 #5 Posted November 5, 2011 Are you sure that the baffles have been removed? You really can't tell unless you pull the tips off and check. The tips are actually bolted into the baffle end caps so he would have had to pull them out and cut the baffles off in order to keep the tips in place. You might be able to stick a long screw driver or rod in the end and feel around to see if the baffle is in there. If the baffles are still there you can re-wrap them. Look on ebay for baffle wrap material (muffler packing). I re-wrapped mine and they sound pretty good. Welcome aboard.
tim76020 Posted November 5, 2011 Author #6 Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks V7goose! If I have any questions I will take you up on that offer!
tim76020 Posted November 5, 2011 Author #7 Posted November 5, 2011 Yes, they are defiantly removed! I took the tips off today they are gone.
flb_78 Posted November 5, 2011 #8 Posted November 5, 2011 Another cheap muffler alternative is a set of mufflers off a touring Harley. (Road King, Ulta, Electra, Road Glide) Fab up a set of mounting brackets and you'll have a set of factory quiet mufflers with a deeper tone than the OEM mufflers.
etcswjoe Posted November 5, 2011 #9 Posted November 5, 2011 Welcome, Lot's of great folks and good information. Check in often and watch out for those Navy guys in Texas.
Freebird Posted November 5, 2011 #10 Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks V7goose! If I have any questions I will take you up on that offer! Are you CRAZY? Look at the economics of this. Buy enough beer for V7Goose or take it to a dealer...hmmmm..... Seriously, you would be doing yourself a big favor to take him up on that offer. He knows these bikes inside and out.
playboy Posted November 5, 2011 #11 Posted November 5, 2011 A case of beer versus one hour of a shops time. Take them that long just to get it on lift after it's set there for no telling how. Even with traffic can't be over an hours ride. Take him up on the offer.
hydraulicman Posted November 5, 2011 #12 Posted November 5, 2011 I have some Harley mufflers if your interested.
