Hello i am new to the forums and it sucks that my first post is a problem. I can not seem to get my air ride to work on my 86 royale when I start the bike it comes on but then it goes to E4. Does anybody know what this could be?

Thanks I tried the plug and now it is working. I also didn't know it had to be set with the bike off. Too bad I got a flat tire on the way to work the other day cause I would go for a ride. The only other issue I have is the battery light stays on I haven't had the battery die and I have rode all day radio on with no issues. I was told it could be a voltage regulator but I have yet to find one on the bike.

The battery warning light is simply an indicator that they electrolyte lever is low in the battery. It could be that you actually just need to add some distilled water to the battery cells or it could be a bad connection in the circuit. If it is an original setup, there is a probe that inserts into a hole in the top of the battery that causes the light to come on if the liquid gets low.

It could also be that somebody replace the battery with one that does not have a hole for the probe. That is very common as most of us prefer the newer sealed type batteries. If that is the case, here are instructions for bypassing the warning circuit.

Hey Bubba,

Welcome to the VentureRider Forum, We hope you decide to stick around! You have already saved more than the $12.00 it will cost to join, by NOT having to replace the Air Ride Controller!

If it turns out to be that you have a Maint. Free Battery without the hole for the probe, check out this link:

This will take care of the issue nicely! Take some time, look over the First Gen. Tech Library, and don't be afraid to ask questions!:thumbsup2:

Yes I did replace the battery in the spring and it came with a diode but I had no idea what it was for. Thank you for all the info. I had no idea I had to pay to stay on the site. is this a one time or a yearly payment?

It's a yearly payment, it helps Don cover the cost of running the site and other admin items. I belong to a couple of actuall "clubs" that I pay more than 12 dollars a year for that I have not got near as much benifit from as this one. Other than being the most sarcastic group I have every belonged to (I am in good company) these are some of the best folks you will ever meet. If I needed help or had a question 24/7 I can get an answer. I usally ask before I do something new because someone on here has done it and most of the time have a tip to make it alot eaiser.

I would say there area great number of folks that are just like you, they joined and their first post was an issue and just like your case folks answered up with suggestions. I hope you decided to stay and get to know these folks I promise you it will be the best 12 dollars a year you ever spent.

if you are good at soldering;the connector wires going to the circuit board are loose at the printed board(this takes a steady hand .016 solder wire and a tip meant for soldering circuit boards) must be careful not to get sloppy with solder lest you bridge connections not meant to be bridged, this should fix your problem I've owned two 1st gen Royale's both needed this repair, if you don't feel comfortable doing this repair I can do it for you for a small fee call me at 402 3140721 ZMAN:322:
