I thought if the fuel had caster in it, the caster turns rancid with age...

I've heard of some guys running it through cheese cloth to clean but then you end up with an unkown mix...

New planes need new fuel... and the real reason is attitude, takes away excuses and gives you an even chance to test her, trim her and bring her home for the "next time".

Yep, Just drove 50 miles and picked up a Gal of wildcat 2/4 stroke fuel

bench running the new engine right now with it, works very well :D

my cost on the fuel was $19.50 a gal and the drive up :shock3:

I also have been looking over my older fuel and it seem to be OK as well.

It was stored out of light and in a cool place as well for the last 3 years,

Will give it a shot this spring when I know my engines are all tuned

correctly.

It amazes me that It cost $22.55 a case to ship now.

Any time you change fuel, first thing you must do is open the main needle a half turn and then retune from there.

Different fuels can need drastically different needle settings.

Basically just trying to get it started and keep it going. I found a cox manual online and went by that but I can't keep it going. By the time I get anything out of it I seem to run out of fuel in the tank. The manual says to go 5 turns out which is running it rich, once you get it going then back it off. I tried using a battery attached to the glow plug and starter spring, chicken stick and finger start it. I also tried different revolutions, meaning I would try 3.5, 4, 4.5 & 5 turns out. Nothing seems to be able to get it going. I messed with it for several weeks and the most I can get is about 5 seconds worth before it dies. I am using 1/2a fuel that I bought this summer at a local hobby store. I can get the bottle if you want to know brand, bottle, etc...

I also tried AMA which has several local chapters. I emailed I believe 5 people that have their name listed as running the local sites, only 1 responded stating he doesn't deal w/ engines that small but at least would try. His offer is much appreciated but I need someone that knows the engine.

If it is running off the prime for about 5 seconds then it is either to lean or there is a fuel line blockage.

Take the needle all the way out and blast into the hole with a shot of fuel or brake cleaner. If you use brake cleaner you will have to take the tank apart to clean it out good.

If it is an old engine it is common to get dried fuel in the fuel system. It is also common to have the reed valve get glued down with dried fuel.

If it wont run at 5 turns try 6........
