Gary N. Posted October 26, 2011 #28 Posted October 26, 2011 Sorry to hear this. Dan was a friend to me when I really needed one. Hope all turns out okay. Keeping him in my thoughts.
Dooder1 Posted October 26, 2011 #29 Posted October 26, 2011 This is very sad news. I was the first member to meet Dan before he was a member. I was coming back from Freebirds and pulled into a rest stop in Indiana. This guy came and started asking me about my bike and said he had a venture he was fixing up. I told him about the site and he joined up. He remembered me and came up and welcomed me when I got to Freebirds the following Year. I hope for a speedy recovery and Im praying for his family and friends. John

Wolf Posted October 26, 2011 #39 Posted October 26, 2011 Hate to hear this....hope Dan is OK This may not be the time or the place...but I gotta say it..... the news report said "NOT WEARING A HELMET" Of course we don't know at this point if there were any head injurys. Is this the time and place that seems appropriate to you to point out his protective gear?
XV1100SE Posted October 26, 2011 #42 Posted October 26, 2011 Is this the time and place that seems appropriate to you to point out his protective gear? We wish Dano a full and speedy recovery. As for protective gear... we all need to be reminded periodically that anything can happen to you on a bike no matter how good or safe a rider you are. Sh!t happens that is out of our control whether it is with other vehicles (cars, trucks, other bikes), road hazards (oil, potholes), other drivers (inattentive), weather, medical conditions, or wild life.... or our own actions (inattentive, changing radio stations.....). Whatever the cause, the results aren't usually good for us. Any safety gear we wear whether it is helmet or leathers, anything is better than nothing. Don't think Trader was saying anything other than a reminder to all of us.... wear your gear all the time !

awsmsrv Posted October 26, 2011 #47 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) Hate to hear this....hope Dan is OK This may not be the time or the place...but I gotta say it..... the news report said "NOT WEARING A HELMET" Of course we don't know at this point if there were any head injurys. Yeah, I noticed that, as well. I bet most of us did. Is this the time and place that seems appropriate to you to point out his protective gear? It would probably be better to leave it unsaid for now. True, for now we don't know if it would have made a difference. What matters most now is Dano's well-being. Let's pray for his recovery, help in other ways if we can & leave the out of the conversation. Edited October 26, 2011 by awsmsrv misspelled word
