Flyinfool Posted November 1, 2011 #26 Posted November 1, 2011 OK another silly question. Is there a reason that you are using #10-24 screws and the need to tap out the holes instead of the metric ones that fit the existing hole?
Marcarl Posted November 2, 2011 Author #28 Posted November 2, 2011 OK another silly question. Is there a reason that you are using #10-24 screws and the need to tap out the holes instead of the metric ones that fit the existing hole? I found that SS metrics were hard to find but not the SS10\24. So I experimented with the 10\24s. The threads seems to go in perfectly and the screw holds tight. Going this route, both sides would have the same screw, and they would be stainless so less chance to strip out the phillips head. Open for discussion. Carl

Condor Posted November 2, 2011 #30 Posted November 2, 2011 http://www.mcmaster.com/#machine-screw-fasteners/=erb84a They have everything. I've also found that some ACE Hardwares carry a lot of sizes in SS Metric if you need it right now, but cost a lot more for the convenience.......
Marcarl Posted November 2, 2011 Author #31 Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks for the info,,, I will get the proper size and thread,,,,, so now is there anybody that wants these? Maybe I should start a new thread entitled: Group Buy?
Jayceesfolly Posted November 2, 2011 #32 Posted November 2, 2011 I'm still in for a set Thanks, Carl. Jim

I had images in my mind of you pumping the bellows to stoke the fire so you could melt the iron ore to hand forge these things. Thought maybe you could use more firewood.
