Cassette Deck Removal

I just bought a 1999 Venture this week, there's a problem with the cassette deck. The PO got a cassette stuck in the thing and couldn't get it out. As a result, it won't turn off, and the battery will drain in 3 days. His solution was to wire a switch into the fairing that turned power off to the radio/cassette. The problem with this is I loose the FM channel presets when I turn the switch off. I'd like to remove the cassette and create a space for my MP3 player.

 

If I unplug the cassette, will the radio still function? or do I need to jumper some pins on the plug?

Several people have removed the cassette deck. As far as I know all else works if its removed.

Yes unplug the cassette. All will function as normal if everything else is in good shape. Taking the whole thing out is not a problem. There are threads on this in the tech articles. Many of us have taken this out and installed gauges where the door used to be.

The fellow that came up with the ultimate system is sadly in the hospital and may never make the kits again. I hope this is not the case, but our friend, Ponch, is healing and we don't know about his final recovery.

I removed the pos cassette from my second gen if you need one !!!

Thanks for the offer Rickardracing, but I honestly don't think I'd ever use a cassette!

I'd rather have the empty pocket for an MP3 player.
