SilvrT Posted October 18, 2011 #1 Posted October 18, 2011 As I read the various threads/posts, I often see words mis-spelled, spaces missing between two words, words that have a couple or more letters reversed and so on. As I get older, it seems that what I know is the correct spelling and/or punctuation just seems to get mixed up as it travels from my brain to my fingers. I usually porof (oops... that should be proof) read what I type and make corrections and when I do, it amazes me how bad this is becoming. Not so mayn (oops... that should be many) years ago my tpying was near perfect. Have "you" noticed this ... (I'll call it "phenomenon") happening aslo?
bongobobny Posted October 18, 2011 #3 Posted October 18, 2011 It's the internet, spelling and grammar don't matter no more...

Larry That is what I do Larry. It takes me so long sometimes to type a few lines or say what I mean and make it understandable. I sometimes worry about the editing I do, which might be several times to get it right. Glad Silvrt started this thread. Sometimes I need an abbreviation book to make out what some are saying. If anyone has one, it would be helpful. Or just spell out what you want to say and stop being so lazy about it. This is what I mean--- BTW ---- I ask my daughter what in the world this stood for. She said that is --- BY THE WAY --- I am not a texter and think it is the most annoying thing ever invented and kills a lot of people. Why not just call them ???? Just today I followed a guy in a Ford Ranger on HWY US 60 and he nearly caused an accident twice before we got to the interstate and I could go around him to get away from him. Just as I went by, I looked over at him, he was turned side ways in his seat and was texting. I told my wife earlier that he must be drunk. But anyway back to the so called abbreviations that I did not learn in school. Please help me out here people. :confused24: :confused24: :confused24: Oh ya, I am glad there is SPELL CHECK...I mean SC....No that is South Carolina. Fuzzy Edited October 18, 2011 by FuzzyRSTD Forgot to mention ....
hunter 1500 Posted October 18, 2011 #8 Posted October 18, 2011 Lots of times I post from work and we have no spell check but I don't understand why people get so bent about misspelling. It's not that big a deal.

Not so mayn (oops... that should be many) years ago my tpying was near perfect. Have "you" noticed this ... (I'll call it "phenomenon") happening aslo? Funny you should mention, yes I have! I'm a good speller and proof reader, so horrible internet spelling amuses me, I must say. But that being said, it doesn't seem like I type as well as I used to. Maybe I never did... Jeremy

FuzzyRSTD Posted October 18, 2011 #19 Posted October 18, 2011 WOW after checking out the two links you guys provided let's just say I'll never Get It. Larry :sign yeah that: Thanks Larry. Some I kinda can figure out, but some are plum off the wall unless you see a lot I guess. But not for me either. Fuzzy

flb_78 Posted October 18, 2011 #21 Posted October 18, 2011 At least there is usually an effort to come across as slightly educated on this forum and most forums that I frequent. BUT... Some forums are just unreadable because of the people who type like they text. I can't stand that on an internet forum.
Mel Posted October 18, 2011 #22 Posted October 18, 2011 Lots of times I post from work and we have no spell check but I don't understand why people get so bent about misspelling. It's not that big a deal. I guess some of us are just "old school". The difference between deer and dear for example. If you work on your own motorcycle, the difference between .025 and .250 inch is certainly important. I guess "old school" says that if it's worth doing (or posting) it's worth doing (or posting) right.
Sylvester Posted October 18, 2011 #23 Posted October 18, 2011 I will stay with e-mail and the telephone. I can't remember yesterday so how the heck can I remember all those abbreviations. IASC, I am so confused. Is that on the list? I was amased that 303 meant MOM!
BradT Posted October 19, 2011 #24 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) http://www.netlingo.com/acronyms.php I don't understand why anyone would want to know more than a 1/2 percent of those. What a waste of memory cells. I don't know many but more than I really want too. Brad Edited October 20, 2011 by BradT

It is like going to a foreign doctor that you can not understand. Fuzzy
