Yammer Dan Posted October 14, 2011 #1 Posted October 14, 2011 85 and 86 brake pads not the same??? Thought I had set on hand but got to thinking. They won't fit 86. The 83 thru 85s are the same. Changes in 86. I better be grabbing a set. I've been using the brakes on "Brown Sugar" R1 Pads are the same? I have a used set so I'm good for emergencies. Or just quit using brake so much... What do you need to get for winter??? Oh yeah garage is on that list somewhere...
Marcarl Posted October 14, 2011 #2 Posted October 14, 2011 Will you quit thinking out loud,,,,,, you're getting me all confused.
Flyinfool Posted October 15, 2011 #5 Posted October 15, 2011 Ummmmmm....... You do know that you can downshift these bike to use less brake.......... I need a lot of stuff for this winter. 2 tires add some LEDs progressive springs add more LEDs HID driving lights even MORE LEDs HO stator and RR. find a place for somemore LEDs Spark plugs and wires Did I mention more LEDs? IF all that gets done I would love to strip and repaint (most likely yellow) all of the Tupperware and blacken all of the chrome. But I will keep till the flies unless some other issue makes me park it sooner.

I did buy a gun...
Flyinfool Posted October 15, 2011 #7 Posted October 15, 2011 Guns are good for making holes.. but then you have to patch them.........
Condor Posted October 15, 2011 #8 Posted October 15, 2011 The 2ndGen front pads are SBC FA125... I think??, and the R1's take SBC FA252 pads. The 1stGens take the FA88 on the front..... It's early and my first cup of coffee, so treat the above info as hearsay....
bongobobny Posted October 15, 2011 #9 Posted October 15, 2011 I'm thinking that although the MK2 and R1 pads have different part numbers they are interchangeable but I'm not sure, my 1st cup of coffee hasn't quite kicked in yet...

Nope.... I think the R1's are a single pin and the 2gens are double....?? Again.. first cup..
bongobobny Posted October 15, 2011 #11 Posted October 15, 2011 Hmmm, you may be right Jack. Haven't done the conversion yet to the R1/R6 yet. I thought the difference was material and thickness. Off to get my second cup I think...
Yammer Dan Posted October 15, 2011 Author #12 Posted October 15, 2011 Calipers look about the same I was just guessing R1 pads might fit 86.I have a set of used R1 pads. Was thinking I need to have set ready for "Brown Sugar." I'm hard on front brakes. I have extras for the 85. Need to ride it more.
FROG MAN Posted October 15, 2011 #13 Posted October 15, 2011 Brakes? You mean we got brakes? Cool what are they for? Never use em. I remember my first motorcycle ride I was probably 9 or 10. The kid showed me the throttle and I was good so out through the pasture field I went. The fence at the end stopped me.
