FuzzyRSTD Posted October 13, 2011 #2 Posted October 13, 2011 Thanks Rick. I also posted to my Facebook. Hope this opens a few eyes, if you know what I mean. The family of these three will have to live with this always. Fuzzy
rickardracing Posted October 13, 2011 #3 Posted October 13, 2011 I actually printed it off and posted it above the coffee maker at work.
Marcarl Posted October 13, 2011 #4 Posted October 13, 2011 Hope everybody caught the words: 85mph. I don't condone any cell phone talking while driving, but then 85 mph is an accident waiting to happen as well. I'd say that fault was equally shared to a degree.
a1bummer Posted October 13, 2011 #5 Posted October 13, 2011 It seems to me that I've seen that picture, or one like it, a few years back with a similar story. But it was later found to be a fake. If I remember right it was put together as a graphic example of what could happen. Or something like that anyway. But in either case, there's no doubt in my mind that something like that could actually happen. I'm kind of having a bit of a hard time believing that is the real deal without having blood and bits of people nowhere to be seen. I don't care how good a job you do, you could never get it all. But more to there point, when people make poor decisions, things can get grisly in no time flat. Bill
a1bummer Posted October 13, 2011 #6 Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) But then I could be wrong... http://www.driveandstayalive.com/articles%20and%20topics/crash%20causation/speed_swedish-motorcycle-crash_2005.htm Note that the story had changed a bit and the date as well. Still more even better details... http://www.hoax-slayer.com/motoycle-inside-vw-accident.shtml Edited October 13, 2011 by a1bummer
RandyR Posted October 13, 2011 #7 Posted October 13, 2011 That picture and story was posted here before.
darthandy Posted October 14, 2011 #8 Posted October 14, 2011 According to Snopes the accident happened in 2003 when the car turned left in front of the bike. They say that there is no mention in any of the local newspapers of anyone being on a cell phone or the speed of the motorcycle. It seems those details may have been added by somewhat trying to further sensationalize the accident. Here's the link to the Snopes story: http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/seemotorcycle.asp
