RandyR Posted October 7, 2011 #1 Posted October 7, 2011 Looking at 1994 Mustang convertible on ebay with 11,000 miles http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/320768912686 Says clutch replaced? why if only 11,000 miles (maybe used at the dragstrip I think). So see ebay includes 'Free Vehicle History Report' Click on that and it shows the vehicle's title was transferred in 1999 with 39,000 miles on it. yet ebay's own safety check report says no discrepencies found ???????

One could always ask for a picture of the odometer. Frankly, I don't understand why people don't do that. Who knows... maybe an honest mistake/typo, maybe a scammer. Too bad e-bay didn't catch that too...
MiCarl Posted October 7, 2011 #3 Posted October 7, 2011 eBay shows you the CarFax report. Since the title hasn't transferred CarFax doesn't know about the 11,000 mile odometer.
Flyinfool Posted October 7, 2011 #4 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) IF it really has 11K and needs a clutch then you do not want it, it was beat hard. More likely could be that someone forgot a zero in the odo reading. 114,000 is realistic, even to the point of still being low miles for a 17 year old car. Send a question to the seller and ask. Also ask for a pic of the odo. If no reply or an ambiguous reply RUN away, fast. Another possibility is that the instrument cluster was replaced and the odo is only showing the mileage since the replacement. I am not sure when cars all started to have the Hundreds of thousands digit in the odo, if this is old enough it may have been turned over one or more times and is now actually showing 11,400. The next red flag is member since 9-21-11 with zero feedback. We do have a bunch of members in that general area, You could ask someone here to go and look at to see if it really exists and to verify the odo. Edited October 7, 2011 by Flyinfool
SilvrT Posted October 7, 2011 #5 Posted October 7, 2011 Four owners in 11,000 miles ??? Did ya look at the driver's seat?? ... geeesh, I'd think it's a typo and it's 111 thousand miles...
Flyinfool Posted October 7, 2011 #6 Posted October 7, 2011 I suppose that even though the seller is new with zero feedback he is asking for payment in person. Just do not go there alone. Every ebayer with great feedback had to make a first sale and at onetime was a member for only 3 weeks. This does make it look more legit, But I would still proceed with caution.
Holly Posted October 7, 2011 #7 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) If carfax shows a title transfer in 99 with 39,000 on it, then it has to have at least 111,400 on it. If the title has not been transferred since then carfax cannot pick it up. That year ford most likely has only a 5 digit odometer. Also over 10 years old they don't need odometer statement. The wear on the drivers seat also shows more than 11,000 wear. Edited October 7, 2011 by Holly added info
