Midrsv Posted October 3, 2011 #1 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) Valerie and I spent the weekend riding the Cherohala Skyway and Deal's Gap and while there we stayed in Tellico Plains at the Lodge at Tellico. What a treat! We heard of the place just before we left to go and I posted a note here asking about it. So cancelled our hotel in Marysville and booked with the Lodge. We arrived late Friday afternoon and received a friendly greeting from Walt, the proprietor as he was taking BBQ from the smoker, more about that later. We checked in and he showed us to the garage to park the bike and then pointed us to our building. The lodge is made up of 4 large cabins with each one divided into quarters. Each room is very large and comfortable with a king bed, sleep sofa and bathroom. Some also have a soaking tub and fireplace. The rooms also have wifi and Direct TV. The place was spotless. The basement of one of the cabins is the bike garage. Those that opt for the garage are given an electronic key to the door to come and go as needed. In another basement there is a game room with a pool table, ping pong, foosball and air hockey. After resting a bit we walked back to the office/restaurant for dinner where we had a very tasty meal of pulled pork and fried catfish. The meal was a great value and it was just a few yards from our room so we didn't have to get back on the bike. http://www.lodgeattellico.com/default.htm Prior to starting on our ride Saturday we stopped at the Tellico Grains Bakery for breakfast. Afterward, we rode across the Cherohala and Deal's Gap twice each. A great day of riding although it was a bit cool, cold on the Cherohala which was at 37 degrees each time we went across. I've posted a few photos at www.traynorphoto.com/tellico Dennis Edited October 3, 2011 by Midrsv

Reminds you that you're alive I love that cool wind in my face. Nice pics. Crisp, now that is a good way to descirbe it. A couple of electric jacket liners help reduce the crispness. We saw quite a few red faces and ears on riders at the Deals Gap store who were riding with those little bean pot looking helmets without ear cover or face shields. Dennis
Lil Venturous Posted October 4, 2011 #4 Posted October 4, 2011 I always had great luck there. The FZ1OA (FZ1 owners ass.) holds a ralley there every year. I believe some years we had at least 70 bikes. They plan ahead and reserve several cabins and then the ralley was held on Shuckstack rd? They work great with the groups. I would recommend them as a ralley location. Only thing is the roads are not their private property I believe and if you ride through there without a helmet you can get a ticket.
FuzzyRSTD Posted October 4, 2011 #5 Posted October 4, 2011 Looks like you all had a great time. Very nice place and good food, you know how I am about that catfish. Nice pictures....... Thanks for the information MidRSV. I am thinking this would be a good ride sometime and maybe a whole family vacation and do the train rides. I saved this information, thanks again. Regards, Fuzzy
