I just bought my Midnight Venture this Monday. My girlfriend and I have decided to tour some with my parents next year. The issue that I am having that might not amount to much but I have not ever seen a motorcycle do this is: If the bike is cold and I go to start it, it will pull it's self up the drive way. I have always parked my bikes with them in gear for safety reasons and never had one do this. My dad said that he has heard of some bikes doing this if they set for long periods of time on a side stand but never had it happen or seen it happen. But this is every day so far, just the first time I start it for the day. Once it warms up it has no more issues. Please help, just need to know what to look for or if I need to take it back to the dealership to get looked at.

Take it out of gear before you push the starter, and you should be good. The clutch plates are bathed in oil, but when you put the scoot on the side stand, all the oil can or will drain off leaving the plates kind of on the dry side, hence there may be some stickyness. Mine does it all the time, just be ready to hang on if it's still in gear,,, which mine always is.

Great! That is what we was thinking but just was not sure because I have never had a bike that leaned this far on a side stand with know way to keep straight up at night. Thanks again for the info.

all of my yamahas has do it, usually after setting for awhile, you can just shift it into neutral and alls ok. you may want to see if the clutck fluid is old and maybe weak and not pulling it all the way in. also sometime the rubber line on the clutch maybe getting weak and streching out and not letting the clutch pull all the way in. if you need help i live in montevallo and can meet you somewhere and look at it for you. i also hjave a friend that works for big #1 and has his own shop in calera and he's the only other person i would let work on any of my bikes. let me know if i can help, don.
