rstacy Posted September 28, 2011 #1 Posted September 28, 2011 I bought this Yamaha backrest for my 86 VR. The ad said that it was for an 83-84. I hope its also for an 86! http://www.raymondstacy.com/backrest.jpg Now I don't know how to mount it. Does anyone have a closeup of how it mounts or is it simple enough to just tell me how its done? Thanks! Ray
Trader Posted September 28, 2011 #2 Posted September 28, 2011 It won't fit! 83-85 is MK I...different mounts from Mk II But there is a high demand for those...in fact I might be interested. Please PM me with the price
Flyinfool Posted September 28, 2011 #3 Posted September 28, 2011 I am not certain but I think the backrest is the same for MKI and MKII it is just the mounts that are different. I have the Yami backrest on my 88. If you still need pics when I get home from work I can get you some.
rstacy Posted September 28, 2011 Author #4 Posted September 28, 2011 Thanks Jeff. I would like to see how the right one would mount if I had it. Ray
Flyinfool Posted September 28, 2011 #5 Posted September 28, 2011 Ray, Its not any harder than working on a Stratus or Furion from Min Air....... Probably easier. Just get out the BFH.
Trader Posted September 28, 2011 #6 Posted September 28, 2011 First 2 shots are from my 84 Last 2 are from my 88 you can see the mount is completely differeent
Flyinfool Posted September 28, 2011 #7 Posted September 28, 2011 Those first 2 shots of your 84, is that the Markland backrest and the second 2 on the 88 are of the Ventureline?
Trader Posted September 28, 2011 #8 Posted September 28, 2011 Those first 2 shots of your 84, is that the Markland backrest and the second 2 on the 88 are of the Ventureline? The 88 is Ventureline for sure....not sure what or who the 84 back rest is. the 84 has markland light bar on the rear...probably adapted from a GW set up. I think it's ugly...but just never got around to removing it.
bongobobny Posted September 28, 2011 #9 Posted September 28, 2011 Ray, if you can fabricate you can borrow mine to use as templates. I have both Markland MK1 mounts and Ventureline MK2 mounts...
rstacy Posted September 29, 2011 Author #10 Posted September 29, 2011 Thanks for the pics trader. I definitely have the wrong one. Thanks for the offer Bob but I think that is beyond me. Ill list the one I bought on here for what I have in it and Ill keep looking for the right one. Ray
rstacy Posted October 3, 2011 Author #11 Posted October 3, 2011 Ray, Its not any harder than working on a Stratus or Furion from Min Air....... The Furion is easy. The Stratus was a whole different story!
